1. The best way to reduce its power is to break up the agency and move what's left away from Washington.

That lab is a source of criminal activity. It has been found to falsify evidence.
In order to curtail the FBI, we need public support. There needs to be transparency about what the FBI investigates and what files they keep. We need to show the American people that, yes they themselves likely have an FBI entry.
In 1991 Germany passed the Stasi Records Law. It granted people the right to view their Stasi files. Everybody knew East Germany was a police state but many hoped that government never took notice of them. It did.
Millions of people have seen their Stasi files. Every file viewed drives home the point of what can happen when a government sees the people as something to exploit.
We need an FBI version of this.
Each American must be allowed to see their FBI files. It would scare the public and they would demand no such agency should ever arise again.
1. FIRE every stinking employee of the FBI from the mailroom to the board room and offer them the opportunity to file for unemployment,
2. Completely disband the agency and prefer charges against the principal managers,
3. Raze every emplacement, building, facility they ever occupied to the ground.
This incident has formally changed my primary vote from DeSantis to Trump. Both candidates being otherwise equal, Trump is the only one of the two that I believe will at least attempt to take action against our corrupt DOJ and its minion agencies. He has been incentivized by the left’s insanity and persecution. The Democrats apparently have no clue what they’ve done here.
DeSantis doesn’t have what it takes to stand up and take action. It’s far past time to clean house.

The FBI was built first and foremost to get dirt on politicians. That’s how J Edgar managed to work for 8 presidents none of whom liked him. The FBI will never be broken up.

There is a federal function or two that is legit, but agreed: 95% needs to go back to the states. The Marshals can handle the rest.
Better plan:
1. Zero out the FBI budget
2. Terminate FBI access to classified info
3. Terminate FBI access to grand jury information
4. Transfer forensic lab functions to another agency
5. Remove FBI “special agent” arrest powers and terminate their status as federal law enforcement officers
6. Remove the FBI from the “intelligence community”
7. Appoint a special counsel to investigate FBI corruption and law-breaking
8. Change the name of the Hoover building and reassign it to some other agency.
9. Make active duty military service a hiring requirement for all federal law enforcement jobs, thereby effectively barring most current FBI agents from moving to another agency
10. Immediately terminate the security clearances of all FBI personnel. Terminate the. effective now so they cannot use their existing clearances to get hired by any other government agency.
Apart from the budget, for which some help from Congress would be needed, every step listed above could be rammed through by the President unilaterally.
I would first polygraph every single employee. Those that refuse fire immediately. Those that fail, arrest on charges of sedition and those who pass are the ones to keep.
No, don’t keep ANY of them, not a single one. The agency should be defunded and dismantled, and their building bulldozed to bare dirt and turned into a grassy park.
Get rid of the perks to senior cabinet officers: the planes, the SUVs, the security details...make their lives miserable.
On a cultural level, everyone stop watching Sean Hannity….
GREAT idea...the only people watching are bored and jaded older folks who think Sean ‘brings something to the table’. He does NOT. If you MUST watch television, stream some 60’s reruns.
Sorry. No. Fire them all, along with everyone at the BATFE while you’re at it. Any decent folk can apply to other places. Do not just shuffle them off to another bureaucracy. The leeches can work for a living for a change instead of plotting against Americans. I hear amazon is hiring in their warehouses.
