'We don't even agree on how to define it yet': It's year three of the pandemic and scientists still know very little about Long Covid or how to Cure it: 7.5% of adults in the U.S. have markers of Long Covid.

We've entered year three of the pandemic, and experts still know very little about long Covid, including how to cure its symptoms.

On July 20th and July 21st, the Global Virus Network hosted the first-ever conference devoted solely to the science of long Covid. There, scientists spoke openly about what is known about the mysterious condition and the questions that remain.

For example, researchers are still searching for answers to two key questions:

* How do we define long Covid?

* Will Covid-19 medication like Paxlovid treat long Covid symptoms as well?

At this stage, even providing an estimate of how many people have long Covid is tough because symptoms vary, says Robert Gallo, co-founder and director of the Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, who was one of the conference's panelists.

"It'll change tomorrow and next week, and it depends on whose criteria you're using," Gallo says. "We don't even agree on how to define it yet, so it's difficult."

Anecdotally, we know that many people are experiencing Covid symptoms long after infection, and data analyzed by the CDC in June shows that 7.5% of adults in the U.S. have markers of long Covid.

Currently, the agency defines long Covid as a condition that causes long-term effects as a result of an initial Covid-19 infection. These symptoms typically present long after you test negative for the virus and range from respiratory to neurological.

Per the CDC, people with post-Covid conditions commonly report symptoms of:

* Fatigue that interferes with daily activities

* Fever

* Difficulty breathing

* Cough

* Chest pain

* Brain fog

* Headache

* Depression or anxiety

* Muscle pain

* Changes in menstrual cycles and more

correction: Spring 2021 was the first time I had it. The three times I’ve had it were about 6 months apart. The last bout was in May of this year.

I only had it that one time in my whole life, so it definitely wasn’t sleep related.

"* How do we define long Covid?"

People who think that "vaccines" help and not hurt?

I have to wonder how much of the MSM COVID hysteria these people watched. I saw the 6pm news at a buddy’s house a year+ ago and it was basically a half hour covid infomercial. All covid all the time. I imagine daytime cable news shows were about the same. My sister had an issue after 9/11 where she was unable to stop watching the news of it and she somewhat went into a depression over it. Imagine watching 12 hours of covidmania every day and what that would do to your mind. It’s well known that the mind can effect the body.

Absolutely right. Plus, liberals are FAR more susceptible to that hysteria. It would be an interesting study to look at political spectrum as well as psychological susceptibility to nonstop bombardment with bad news.

Liberals buy into all sorts of apocalyptic things like climate change and are scared to death of that. Mental illness abounds on the left.

Yeah there may be a such thing as long covid but I bet in most cases it’s psychosomatic.

Long COVID is a made-up disease. What’s next? Long measles? Long flu? Long chickenpox?

Well. I was making the case for masks and vaxxes here two years ago. I’ve had COVID three times and feel like refried doggie poo. I guess it’s divine retribution.

Over 200 symptoms and still counting: https://www.ama-assn.org/delivering-care/public-health/long-covid-over-200-symptoms-and-search-guidance

Essentially, it covers anyone’s symptom of any type that anyone wants to call long covid. The more jab injuries that can’t be covered up with another excuse the better, too.

You think so? I did not believe in long haul COVID. I had a nasty case of COVID back in 2020. I felt like crap all 2021 and did not realize it until 2022 when I stopped feeling like crap until I caught it again in early July.

One convenient marker for me was anosmia. I was invulnerable in Fart Wars. Food tasted fine. One day someone launched a nuclear fart upon me and I almost passed out. That was in November of 2021. For the next 6 months I had much more energy.

Nocebo, you say? Perhaps. I don’t think so, but think what you will.

If they = the FDA & CDC - do not get the case data to distinguish the case examples of “long Covid” between the vaccinated and the nver vaccinated then their analysis must be publicly discarded.

My own suspition is that the mRNA and the adjuvints used with it are responsible for post-infection “long Covid” more than the Covid virus by itself, due to continued effects, harms, imposed on the natural immune system process.
