Security footage captured the moment a massive house explosion killed three people and damaged at least 39 homes in the southern Indiana city of Evansville.
The blast was reported around 1 p.m. on Wednesday and had a 100-foot radius, Evansville Fire Department Chief Mike Connelly said. Police have shut down North Weinbach Avenue, where the explosion occurred, along with neighboring streets that could be seen strewn with debris.
A total of 39 houses were damaged by the explosion, but Connelly said the department has not confirmed how many of the houses were occupied when the explosion happened because 'some were too unstable to enter.'
'Debris is strewn over a 100-foot radius,' including 'typical construction materials' such as wooden boards, window glass and insulation, Connelly said.
Authorities are continuing their search of area, but Connelly warned there could be more victims.
The identities of the people who died would not be released until the next of kin has been notified, Dave Anson, chief deputy coroner for Vanderburgh County, told The Associated Press.
The cause of the explosion has not been determined, but the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating.

It’s not a halfway house any more! It’s all the way gone.
“It’s a Fixer-Upper!”
Wow, that’s huge! Curious about the cause.
The video doesn’t look like a gas explosion. It had more force like a high explosive blast. I’m no expert, though.
Saying it’s a gas leak.
A lot more of a big ball of flame in that one which is what you’d expect in a gas explosion.
The one this thread is about begins with a powerful blast at the base with a very bright white flash with a little orange ball blowing out sideways then the upward explosion immediately overwhelms the initial blast with a large dark cloud of debris.
The NJ blast has no dark cloud at all. Just a large ball of flame then debris and a smaller light brown cloud of dust below the debris not above it.
That’s my two cents and I’ve never stayed at a Holiday Inn.
I came to the same conclusion but I’m no expert either.
Mostly Pieces Protestor make free speech choice bombs?
Hillary Clinton deleting more emails?
Yeah, that’s a classic gas leak, over pressure situation.

Oh my!
You will have to order extra photons to keep up with the crowds.
That was some major explosive, not some little meth lab. I’m a low-end landlord. While none of my renters have been cooking meth...that I know of...I know another landlord who has dealt with it a couple of times. You’re talking about a few gallons of chemicals. That explosion strikes me as more than a few gallons.
Okay, funny story. My friend Linda had a renter who had outstanding drug warrants. He had the front door open and was busy cooking meth in the kitchen. Two deputies showed up to serve the warrant. One deputy pokes his head in the door, sees what’s going on and motioned the other deputy to go to the back door. When the other deputy signaled, he was in place the first deputy stands in the door, knocks and says, “Howdy Kevin.” Kevin bolts out the back door where the second deputy trips him, lands on him and cuffs him. The deputy says, “That was pretty stupid, are you high?” Kevin said, “Nononono, I ain’t highhighhigh.”
Curious how someone just happened to be hand holding a video to capture the explosion
It was from a business security cam
Well until they investigate it how would they know it isn’t a gas explosion? PLUS with all the federal Gestapo activity going around I wouldn’t put it past the feds to blow up some people they didn’t like and claim terrorists.
Halfway to Indianapolis.
Maybe. Looking at the video I see black smoke. That’s kind of indicative of TNT or maybe just a lot of dust.
Gas companies have pressure sensors and meters. A gas explosion shows immediately because of pressure changes when the user’s line has it’s valve blown off and gas is leaking out rapidly. Plus it stinks like Biden’s ass. Maybe there is an auto shut off where the customer’s line meets the main. Still, the gas company would know that the auto shut off engaged for that address.
Seems strange to me that if it was gas, they have announced that yet.
The very black smoke is what made me think not gas...
