It evaporates. It’s really really freaking hot there.
What isn’t absorbed in the desert sands evaporates. The evaporation rate in Death Valley is 128 inches per year.

Provided you like unending browns, tans, and beiges,
plus the mottled blues of an occasional lying, cheating thug.
282 feet below sea level, at Badwater, lowest point in North America. Water is quickly absorbed by the dry, sandy soil. Quite a bit of Death Valley Park is well above sea level. Telescope Peak at 11,049 feet towers over Badwater.

Death Valley is a huge national park and is fascinating. While the Badwater Basin section is under sea level, Death Valley also has mountains over 10,000 feet.
The “soil” at Badwater Basin is crunchy. The top layer is salt which cracks as you walk.

We stopped at the Furnace Creek Inn in the early ‘80’s. After seeing the room, I asked for a refund. Rundown and dirty it was. We stayed in Beatty that night. Just sight seeing.
Hm?.....That is a very interesting question. Are electric vehicles safe in puddles?
I haven’t been to the Inn in fifteen years, but the last time was a treat. Clean. Good food. Pool located beneath palms. Lush garden. It must have been sold and renovated from the time you were there.

I found a copy of “The Phantom Major” on ebay, a “special forces library” edition, for less than $10!! Thanks again!
My wife and I were big fans of old movies. “Flight to Nowhere” is a film noir from 1946, and much of the movie was filmed at The Inn.
Nice find, I think he’ll like it quite well. Worthwhile.
