Cheney says DOJ not prosecuting Trump if there's evidence could call into question the US as 'nation of laws'

Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney said if the Justice Department does not prosecute former President Donald Trump for his role in the insurrection at the US Capitol and "the facts and the evidence are there," the decision could call into question whether the United States can "call ourselves a nation of laws."

In an interview with CNN's Kasie Hunt, Cheney -- the GOP vice chair of the House select committee investigating the events surrounding the January 6, 2021, insurrection -- said Trump is "guilty of the most serious dereliction of duty of any president in our nation's history" and pointed to a judge who's said he likely committed crimes. She said the House committee is "going to continue to follow the facts. I think Department of Justice will do that. But they have to make decisions about prosecution."

"Understanding what it means if the facts and the evidence are there, and they decide not to prosecute -- how do we then call ourselves a nation of laws? I think that's a very serious, serious balancing," Cheney said.

Wyoming better bring Cheney back home because if we're to flush the giant DC toilet, this is one turd that would clog the pipes.

“A massive gathering on the Mall would properly counter the cries of cretins in Congress that have concocted a lie of Trump and MAGA Americans attempting to overturn an election.”

It’s been done. They don’t care. Nothing changes. The only thing that will get their attention is a good old fashioned tarring and feathering of at least one of those scoundrels. They should know they aren’t untouchable under the conditions they’ve created.

I’ll take “Who is Hillary Clinton?” for 100, Alex.

They (Deep State, Swamp, Lefties) are telling you what they are afraid of, and its not the loss of "rule of law".
That ship sailed back when Bill Clinton was in the White House, and Bush Jr. was imho a momentary reprieve much in the same way a Mob neighborhood is safe even while the Mob is still taking care of business.

Whatever Trump was in the process of doing had the Swamp scared, and they suspect Trump would not make the same mistake twice.
Scoundrels will wrap themselves in the flag in the hopes of convincing people "I'm on your side", while wiping their a** with that same flag. Its why I don't cheerlead any public figure--and only support them once they've demonstrated through their actions who they are/what they're all about. Even then, its contingent, because they can change (case in point-I used to respect Kasich when he was part of the group that pushed to implent the Contract with America. But somewhere along the way he turned into a douchebag).

Funny only prosecutor witnesses allowed for Ms Cheney. In a country of laws both sides present and then the people decide.

the decision could call into question whether the United States can "call ourselves a nation of laws."

Like the decision not to prosecute the thousands of BLM rioters who caused sever property damage?

I read this stuff and my blood boils.

Let it roll off back? No. I want them shut up... either see truth, or keep mouth shut.

So they won’t prosecute...they’ll just continue to persecute. It’s so much more fun and you don’t have to worry about truth.
