Alabama prison officials examined female reporters’ clothing and tried to block a female reporter with AL.com from witnessing Thursday night’s execution of a death-row inmate, saying her skirt and shoes violated a prison dress code.
Ivana Hrynkiw, a reporter and managing producer with AL.com, said she was told by Alabama Department of Corrections Public Information Officer Kelly Betts after she arrived at the media center at William C. Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore that her skirt was too short.

I visited a prison (twice) in the UK with our praise and worship band from church. Strict dress code. We walked straight through genpop to get to the chapel.
Our instruments were scanned for contraband.
When you’ve got it, flaunt it???

Narcissism.
A prison is no place to be more concerned about your appearance, and getting your own way, than about your personal safety.
In Texas, you’re not allowed to wear white, including a medical lab coat, because the inmates wear white.
I did some contract work in a couple of prisons a few years ago, in the medical department. It didn’t take a dress code to tell me that it would be wise to wear slacks rather than skirts, tops with modest necklines, practical shoes you could run in, and minimal jewelry- no necklaces or scarves you could get choked with, no dangly earrings that could be ripped out of your ear, and nothing flashy.
You don’t want to draw unnecessary attention to yourself. In fact, someone said “dress frumpy “ and that’s actually pretty good advice.
In a prison, you don’t have to be “hot,” just being female is enough to draw attention.
Cake?
So the Executee can see her thighs, and whatever else he imagines, and that is bad, just before he is Zapped.
Where are the Nuns?
Where are the Burkas?
So journolists dress like they are going to Taco Barn or on vacation rather than try to dress more prfessionally with higher standards than clothes they’d wear around the house.
Yep.
I went to a public high school about that time where the assistant principal carried a ruler and boys whose sideburns exceeded the maximum length were sent home. Girls did have some minimum skirt length that I don’t recall.
We are acting like Muslims everyday. Good god were in trouble.
Indeed
Were they afraid she was going to give the condemned man a stiffie?
And an exhibitionist.
Most likely, a totally different outfit from a different day.
The aggrieved reporter wants an investigation by Gov.Ivey, also a female, into this horrible, horrible I say, DISCRIMINATION against female reporters as they’ve been allowed to dress any way they wanted in the past. As it turns out there’s a new Warden at this prison and he wants the dress code strictly enforced — rightly so, in this old lady’s opinion.
Not tool long ago people dressed differently for work. A little better. Some people, a lot better. Not like they were going to the mall, or on the couch watching Lifetime while downing a box of wine.
👍
Love ‘em. They remind me so much of my old years at uni with their style..even though they are fairly new.
Something we might hear on the campus radio station or at a party.
