HOUSTON – A couple is facing assault charges following a road rage incident in Houston that was caught on cellphone video.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said a man was driving north on I-45 near FM 1960 with his 2-year-old son in the car on Tuesday afternoon when they were involved in a road rage incident with a couple in a truck.
When the man exited the highway, he noticed he was being followed by the truck, according to KSAT’s sister station KPRC.
Both vehicles stopped near Parramatta Lane where the driver of the truck, a Navy veteran identified as Benjamin Greene, 34, allegedly got out of his vehicle and assaulted the man.
Gonzalez said the victim began to flee in his car and that’s when 40-year-old Nazly Ortiz allegedly got out of the truck holding a handgun and fired into the backseat passenger window of the vehicle.
The victim continued driving and Ortiz allegedly fired another shot at the car, which struck a car dealership building.
According to Gonzalez, the victim was transported to a local hospital with a possible graze wound and is said to be in good condition.
ABC 13 spoke to the victim who said he was grazed by a bullet on his head. He said it didn’t bleed but that the area was swollen.
The victim also said the 2-year-old was his nephew and that he was hit by shattered glass but is doing ok.
Ortiz and Greene both appeared in court on Wednesday, according to KPRC. The judge did not set bail for either suspect.
The couple appeared to be wearing the same clothes in court that they were seen wearing in the video.

Bad actors all around.
The Colombian should be locked up for decades.
Greene should be locked up for years.
The dude, with the baby in the back seat, who stopped his car on the side of the road during the road rage incident is an idiot.
assault charges?!!?
that’s ATTEMPTED MURDER!!!!!
That was clearly and assault with intent to harm (kill).
Doesn't matter. We obviously need more of them.
I'd say a solid 8 x 7. But that's just me.
It looks like the Navy vet was trying to get the gun away from her at the end but she had already gotten off two shots.
Couple charged after viral video shows woman firing into car with 2-year-old in Houston road rage incidenvt.
Was Covid the evil viral video? Is so what number?
Roger that! My favorite car of all time was a Volvo 242 GT, bought it in 1979. It was a 4 cylinder, with electronic overdrive.
Best cruising speed was 90-95 mph, though I went as fast as 115 mph on the autobahn, heading back to Spangdahlem from Ramstein.
We were at a meeting at K-town that went long, ended at 5:05. Our new S-3 said "oh damn, I have to be home by 6." Spangdahlem was 90 miles from Kaiserslautern, and was only half autobahn at that time.
My replacement, another captain, had ridden with me on several occasions, and he notice the gleam in my eye: "Major, you shouldn't have done that."
It was his first ride on the autobahn, and I gave him his money's worth. The other captain asked him, "you know why he doesn't have the radio on? The signal can't keep up with him."
That car was great for the country roads leading to the air base: with the stick, I could take 30 mph turns at 50-60 with no problem.
Anyhow, we pulled into the entrance to Spangdahlem at 5:55...90 miles in about 50 minutes, though the major had a bad case of white knuckles.
No matter how many, a criminal won't bother with any of them.
She will probably get the biden award for fastest acclimation after jumping over the border trophy.
Agreed. Totally.
You could try to argue that the first shot was defensive, since the video did not show what happened in the seconds leading up to that shot, but it would be pretty hard to do so.
There is no way to argue that the second shot, after the guy was speeding down the road, was anything other than road rage. She is lucky she didn't hit someone in the Acura dealer parking lot.
All of this over road rage. Most likely he got cut off in traffic and just had to chase the guy down. People just can't control themselves.
Because....Houston!
In my opinion, any person abusing or putting a child at risk deserves the ultimate punishment by law.
Exactly! I’ll bet that damn Kim Ogg influenced the reduced charge. Soros DA.
I love these stories. They remind me of how glad to the bone I am retired and don’t live in that particular shit-hole anymore.
1960 and I-45, my my. Who would have thought? The barrio has spread a lot. Just about everywhere now.
For her sake, I hope he doesn't get released on bail. If he does, she needs to take her kid and leave town. She also needs to stop giving TV interviews.
Well also, there is the video, and the holes in a building and in a car, and that she is from Columbia like the Medellín Cartel, and good grief!
