Germany may face shortages of such staples as toilet paper and cardboard if Russian gas supply dwindles in the coming months, German outlet Zeit Online reported on Wednesday.
Operating paper plants may become unprofitable if they are forced to produce at reduced capacity because of gas shortages, the publication cites Jürgen Schaller, Chairman of the Board of the Bavarian Paper Associations, as warning.
Producing paper requires a lot of water, electricity and gas, Schaller explained, adding that the technology is tried and tested and cannot be changed quickly.
“Many employees in my company are already very worried. I can’t blame them. Because if we can only produce 50 or 60 percent, the operation is not worthwhile for us. To be honest, I worry too.” Schaller told Zeit Online.

Attempts to isolate Moscow are placing the West in a stupid position, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told the Sputnik radio station on Wednesday.
“The isolation of Russia, announced by the West, has turned into the West’s self-isolation from the rest of the world,” she pointed out. “No matter what happens, and no matter how they intimidate others, or what guidelines they send out, or what conditions they set, or how they run after various countries’ presidents and ministers, they are only placing themselves in an increasingly stupid position and pushing themselves deeper into a dead end,” the Russian diplomat emphasized.
According to her, the Western elite don’t have any diplomatic or political tools left to turn things around.
“I understand that they may have viewed it as their endgame. Perhaps, they did raise the stakes to the extent that they had to go all in, and even gamble on things that don’t exist, namely, their reputation,” Zakharova pointed out. “They bet everything but their gamble failed to pay off. And now, they are unable to comprehend that their bet is starting to go against them more and more with each passing day, affecting the economic and political situation, leading governments to fall, causing a deep political crisis and a brutal internal political divide in the US,”

The solution is so simple! Think first of the US President, and then “Bidet” comes to mind.
With our inflation rate, shitpaper will become common currency as it was in Germany before WWI.
NY Times will do.
Germans warned of toilet paper shortage save grass clipping.
Thanks, Grampa Dave. That pretty much tells it like it is, imo. I don’t think leadership in the West has ever been this inept and dangerously so.
It’s going to be interesting and fun to watch the environazis this winter. They’ve put their countries between a rock and a hard place.

All of the boomeranging suicide sanctions need to be ended immediately.
Punishing Putin is proceeding poorly for Germany.
