I’ve never had an abortion. But I’ve had a lot of sex. And when I’ve been asked what my “number” is by friends or lovers, I laughed it off because I hadn’t ever considered counting a complete tally of partners.
But today I realize the privilege that comes with not really knowing how many different men I’ve slept with. That’s because I lived during a time when I was lucky enough to be able to separate my sex life from the rest of me. To put sex into a little box that I only accessed when the time was right. I was not weighed down by fears of pregnancy. I was bolstered by rights that I knew would protect me should things not go as planned.
Now, I recognize that the number of sex partners I’ve had defines an era and a mentality that we are all at risk of losing. I’ve been lucky enough to have slept with at least 17 men in my 41 years of life, and I think it might mean something positive that I’m not sure if there were more.
Why keep track? Because if it doesn’t matter to me, it shouldn’t matter at all. That’s the freedom and privilege of having had access to abortion and contraception for my entire adult life.
Talking about abortion access must come in many forms. This has now become a war, and battles for regaining our constitutional rights as women must become manifest on the streets, on the page, and in conversation.

So, she feels that killing an innocent life of a baby and offending God is her right for her pleasure. Just another selfish person trying to destroy the family and marriage in our society.
I hope that she seeks God’s truth and seeks forgiveness from God so that she does not spend eternity in an uncomfortable place without love.
Selfish pleasure comes at the cost of sin, disease, relationship problems, possible loss of eternal life with God, etc.
God gave us a way to share our martial love for the procreation of children. “That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body. Genesis 2:24
St Paul warned that works of the flesh (sins) are plain and those that choose to do so shall not inherit the Kingdom of Gos. (Gal 5:19-21)
Christ told us that we could commit sins of sexual impurity in our thoughts. (Mt 5:28)

I mentioned before on FR how my mother sat me down the evening of my 16th birthday (before I left for town to see my friends, and cruise), and had a one to one talk. Her speech to me was riveting, her eyes locked on to me, as though this was a life or death message. (I knew my parents marriage was not strong. Dad was a Gregory Peck lookalike, and was pursued by various women. Their marriage failed 7 yrs after that speech).
Her love and concern for her children was immeasurable. I was a late bloomer, and when I finally physically matured, getting dates with very attractive girls was easy. Saying no was quite difficult, but I simply wasn’t going to give in to a girl I wasn’t in love with.
Then at 23 I was rewarded with a 21 yr old virgin, who made me wait until wedding night. We both awkwardly started learning about sex that night, and 44 yrs later (this Aug 12th) we still smile about our joint learning experience. The way God intended it to be.

I was both happy and sad to hear our pastor talk about marriage and sexual purity.
He mentioned in his time (he wasn’t much older than we), he had counseled some 15 couples for marriage, and only 1 had never done anything sexual prior. Various ages, too (I was 35 going on 36 when we got married).
Isn’t it disgusting we even talk about this?

We generally only dry up around 50. 40 is no problem.
