Mandy Gutierrez, principal of Robb Elementary School in Texas, was suspended with pay Monday, her attorney, Ricardo Cedillo, confirmed to ABC News.
A special legislative investigation into the May 24 massacre at the school found that Gutierrez was aware of security problems prior to a shooter accessing the school -- killing 19 students and two teachers -- but she had not had the problems fixed.
District officials declined to discuss the suspension or what it means.
Gutierrez joins school district police chief Pete Arredondo, still on unpaid administrative leave. The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District has recommended Arredondo be fired.
The chief has been singled out for a series of catastrophic failures in leading the police response to the massacre that ignored the possibility that children and teachers could be saved had the teenage gunman been confronted and neutralized, as standard police protocol dictates.

"You care more about your damn selves than you do for our children," Cross told the board. "Why have y'all still not taken accountability for y'all's mess-ups? Can any one of y'all look me dead in the eyes and say, 'Look, we messed up?'"
Finally, board member Luis Fernandez confessed that "everybody messed up."

Paid vacation. Go after their fat pensions. The only thing that matters to gov’t “workers.”
I feeks them mañana, I theenks.
Suspended with pay.
Active shooter drill in March revealed issues.
These are all Democrats.
Aware of security issues can mean many things. Still doesn’t explain why there was over 70 minutes no response.
I am sure the mind set was It well never happen here.
were there security cams
in the classrooms?
Does that include the dead kids ?
There was the cop who was restrained when he tried to save his wife, there maybe were a couple of others - but most of them should be canned with loss of pension, if not jail time.
WITH PAY= VACATION!!!!
are some of the refusnic cops enjoying
a financial windfall?
“Still doesn’t explain why there was over 70 minutes no response.”
It is more ominous then that. This “incident” will be on the time line of the collapse of the USA. Something is fundamentally wrong in the USA when innocent elementary school students are slaughtered in the classroom (literally) while security forces sit outside and do nothing.
It smells worse then a can of freshly opened Surstromming
It’s symbolic of the border invasion — we are literally doing nothing as we get slaughtered.
Other things that will make the timeline
9/11/2001 — for the obvious reasons (and our overall response wasn’t much to be proud of either)
3/31/2005 — The death of Terry Schiavo. says a lot about our society
11/4/2008 — Obama elected. Yep not even a decade after 9/11 and a man named Hussein is running the country.
folks, enjoy whats left of the good times now because we are in for a poopie storm over the next few years.
Ya, one hell of a mess up!
Great! Mandy gets a vacation.
Some problems are deeper than you first thought.
Not a unique problem. We have many FReepers that have gleefully posted over the years, trumpeting the fact that since they live in a small town they don’t have to worry about things like this; that their town is so peaceful, they’re fine with having Barney Fife as the town cop.
I’ve noticed that an awful lot of them are silent about that now…
It wasn’t a small town in LE terms.
It’s at the intersection of 2 highways that are major cartel drug and human trafficing routes. The area is swarming with LE from local school cops up to feds including BorTac, both on duty and at home off duty.
That’s why there were almost 400 LE on the scene, BUT NOBODY IN COMMAND. (Not counting the idiot local school police chief, who had never been a patrol cop, but only a 911 operator.)
This case will be analyzed and studied for decades as an example of leadership failure. They had all the personnel and all the tools. Total leadership failure. Nobody took charge. Everybody let “the other guy” set the pace. For 77 minutes.
No one yet held accountable for Uvalde shootings...........!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I’ve never understood “suspended with pay” as a punishment. I call that a paid vacation.
That makes the case even worse against the small town FReepers, though.
1. That local school police chief *has* to be counted. It was Bawney Fife-adondo who was in command on the scene and that cannot be forgotten or dismissed.
2. Assume this happened in a small town that didn’t have access to all these LEO resources. Barney Fife is in charge when the incident occurs, so it’s even worse as they wait hours and hours for ‘resources’ to arrive.
“But they live in a small town!” they say. “It’s okay to have Bawney run the police department!” they say.
It is *never* okay to hire Barney Fifes. Many small towns do and the resulting police force isn’t useful for anything other than breaking up domestic disturbances and revenue generation in the form of speed traps or other mass ticketing strategies.
