On his podcast, Joe Rogan strongly defended same-sex marriage, skewering Republicans as "homophobic" and profanely declaring that anyone who calls him a conservative has no idea what they're talking about.
On the Saturday episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience," the comedian and massively successful podcast host pushed back against critics who have accused him of being a "secret conservative," citing GOP opposition to gay marriage as one of many reasons he is not, nor has ever been, a Republican.
“It’s not just abortion rights, but now they’re going after gay marriage too, which is so strange to me,” Rogan said while interviewing comedian Andrew Schulz. He brought up how Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) reportedly said he will not vote in favor of a bipartisan bill that would codify same-sex marriage into federal law to protect that right from being revoked by the Supreme Court.
Lawmakers have put forward a bill that would ban state governments from recognizing the traditional definition of marriage in what supporters argue is a needed protection for marriage equality. But some Republicans say the bill is unnecessary because the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage in 2015 and no one reasonably thinks the court will reverse that decision. Rubio reportedly called the bill a "stupid waste of time."
"Marco Rubio is saying that it’s like a silly thing to argue about, to be concerned about, and some other senator, a gay woman, confronted him and she was furious at it. 'Cause gay marriage is not silly, it’s marriage. It’s marriage for people that are homosexual and for them it’s important," Rogan said, referring to reports that Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisc.) confronted Rubio about his opposition to the bill.
“Gay marriage is not silly. It’s marriage — it’s marriage from people that are homosexual and it’s, for them, it’s important. They want it," Rogan continued. “They want to affirm their love and their relationship. And the fact that they’re going after that now almost makes me feel like they want us to fight. They wanna divide us in the best way they can. And this is the best way for them to keep pulling off all the bulls*** they’re doing behind the scenes is to get us to fight over things like gay marriage or get us to fight over things like abortion. It’s just like, why are you removing freedoms?”
"Yes," Schulz said. "If you are gonna say that marriage is an important cultural institution to the fabric of America, you can’t remove it from Americans."
“It’s so homophobic,” Rogan declared. “Because you’re saying there’s something wrong with being homosexual by saying that you are opposed to gay marriage. You’re saying you’re opposed to gay people.”
Rogan went on to list a series of benefits enjoyed by married people, explaining how he believes gay people should both have the right to have their love legally recognized and have hospital visitation rights, as well access to financial incentives tied to marriage.
"The fact that they’re going after that now, like that’s the kind of s*** that keeps me from being a Republican. It’s only one of the kind of — there’s a bunch of s*** that keeps you from being a Republican," Rogan said.
"People will say like, ‘Oh, you know, you’re a secret conservative.’ Like you can suck my d***. You don’t know what the f*** you’re talking about. I’m so far away from being a Republican. Just because I believe in the Second Amendment and just because I support the military and just cause I support police," he continued.
"Like I was on welfare as a kid. I think it’s important. I think having a social safety net is crucial. We should help each other. We’re supposed to be one big community. I’m a bleeding-heart liberal when it comes to a lot of s***,” Rogan emphasized.
Nobody ever considered him a ‘conservative’. Nuts.
Joe seems to be going through some kind of metamorphisis.
Trying to re-invent himself. Maybe he thinks Libs will provide better ratings and bigger raises from Netflix.
He reminds me of that old Shakespere quote:
“Doth the Lady protest too much?”
I’ve never understood why anyone watched him.
Agreed. This is our fill-in for The Great Limbaugh?
My how we've fallen.
Heh, maybe Rogan is dating Ann Coulter.
He’s excessively crude, and all about show-biz and ratings.
(One of those people who just sticks his finger in the wind, and goes whichever way the wind tells him.)
No one can take a ten thousand foot look at a culture that celebrates homosexuality, gender confusion and abortion. It means sunset for your culture nation and history. The generation that supports this is the last generation. Simple as that. Why is that so hard to understand.
Rogan is different because he gives conservative voices a platform. He allows people like Shapiro and others to speak without interrupting. No other channel allows that. He himself is a scum bag
I’m not interested in listening to an opportunist ‘scum bag’, regardless which way he swings on any given day.
I don’t know why anyone cares what any of these pundits thinks or says. They’re just individuals with opinions, no different than anyone else. Since I can form my own opinions why would I possibly care about his?
“Bernie Sanders is the Best Candidate for the 2020 Election”, Joe Rogan
Rogan was never a conservative, he just wasn’t a lock step leftist.
Joe has gotten “the memo”.
GOD will take away all fame and fortune he has been getting for his evil stance. Mark my word.
Rogan thinks he can deal with these people and keep his profitable gig.
It only means there’ll be no one to defend him when they start kicking his ass.
This #ing tool doesn’t understand the Spotify war. Too bad he benefited from it.
Not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I listened to his interviews with Dr. Malone, and I kind of liked his style, but I didn’t really get that he was conservative.
Idiot is opposed to grooming children, but is too stupid to realize what led it to be “acceptable.”
