When was the last time you took Alka Seltzer? I'm not talking about the cold and flu medicine, but the good old tried and true Alka Seltzer that's been around since 1931.
Yesterday I ate some nachos. With jalapenos. Lots of jalapenos. Used to be - this was not a problem with me. But today I've had a sour stomach and indigestation.
Plop plop, fizz fizz. Oh what a relief it is.
Taking two Alka Seltzer immediately solved my problem.
Sometimes (oftentimes) the old remedies work best.
Enjoy these old commercials you grew up with. The best commerical ever.

Swear by them. The OTC med I miss the most is Contact. Best antihistamine ever. Nyquil in capsule form.

I just wish it wasn’t so big. I resized the last one and maybe that is why it disappeared?

Definitely a southern thing. During my travels I’ve not found them readily accessible in other parts of the country. As for what you get, I think it’s the knowledge that you’ve already taken what has worked for generations.
I think that a lot of pain relief is mental.

They probably take a while to lose effectiveness or potency. I don’t have any that are expired, but if so I’d make sure they looked normal and fizzed normally in the glass. Then I’d take a sip. If all is well, then down the hatch!

Always on hand at our house.

The 1950 moviee
All About Eve has a scene where a party guest asks Bette Davis if she has any "bicarbonate of soda" for an upset stomach.
I keep a small box of in my cabinet for times when I have a case of heartburn before bedtime from a spicy dinner earlier in the evening. Sodium bicarbonate is a pH base, and neutralizes stomach acids that may be running wild after a meal.
