An Indian minister who drank a glass of dirty water from a 'holy' river to prove to locals it's safe has been hospitalised after falling ill.
Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab, was airlifted to New Delhi after downing the polluted water from the Kali Bein.
Video showing Mann scooping up a glass of water and downing the filthy liquid has since gone viral.
A couple of days after drinking the water, Mann started to complain of a stomach ache.
He was taken to the Apollo Indraprastha Hospital in Sarita Vihar and was admitted overnight .
Medics said Mann had developed an infection and was treated by a multi-disciplinary team.
According to New Indian Express, as soon as medics completed a range of tests on the minister before he was released from hospital.

That is a good way to get cholera. Those rivers have sewage and also dead bodies floated away on the “holy river”.

My son went to the Ganges River in India. He said you could see dead bodies of Untouchables floating by while people bathed and some were drinking the water.

It amazes me that people often in the public eye, like reporters and politicians seem to think that they are above ordinary concerns. Nothing in real life can affect them so a reporter can just walk up to a terrorist with a microphone and camera and “feel” safe. Then, take the British PM holding a party when all others were forbidden to do that. There have been a hundred examples just this year with Politian’s and actors donning masks in front of the cameras and then dropping them off the moment the cameras are put away. Then there’s people who walk right up to wild animals because, they won’t attack me. I’m nice.
Sounds like mid double digit IQ on that one.
It’s crazy to drink ANY water from natural sources unless it’s been purified. You never know what is up river or up stream. A dead animal, feces, forget it. You have to boil it at least for one minute.
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!
I bet some of the Indians who drink those water and survive cannot be harmed by cancer, virus, bacteria, bio-weapon!

Our politicians are smarter — when they go on TV to get the COVID jab, it’s just saline.
Do an image search for “bodies in the Ganges River”. It’s disgusting. It’s hard to believe anyone would touch that water let alone drink it.
Why doesn’t the government do something about this? Other countries don’t allow people to throw human bodies into their waterways.
India has gone from Desai, the piss drinker, to this guy Mann who drinks from a sewer.
It’s not only the people that rule America who are insane.
