'I felt like a walking coffin': Woman, 42, says she was forced to carry her dead fetus inside her for TWO WEEKS after Texas doctors refused to perform D&C until she got 'additional evidence' that her baby didn't have a heartbeat

A beauty YouTuber has claimed that she was forced to carry her dead fetus inside of her for two weeks after Texas doctors refused to remove it because they said she needed 'additional evidence' to prove it didn't have a heartbeat amid abortion bans in the state.

Marlena Stell, 42, from Houston, recalled being ecstatic when she learned that she and her husband, Ab DeSilva, were expecting their second child together last year.

However, the makeup guru's excitement soon turned to heartbreak when she found out around nine weeks into the pregnancy that she had tragically lost the baby.

She was informed that the fetus no longer had a heartbeat, which she described as 'devastating,' and she planned to receive a dilation and curettage (D&C) - a procedure designed to remove a fetus from a women's uterus following a miscarriage.

Marlena was then told by doctors that due to Texas' law regarding abortion, which went into effect on September 1, 2021, she needed to schedule a second ultrasound to 'verify that the pregnancy is no longer valid' before they could give her 'any sort of medical intervention' - which resulted in her having to live with the deceased fetus inside of her for two extra weeks.

Many years ago, a relative was about a month from delivering her second child when they found that the child had already passed away.
The doctors at that time said it would be better for the mother if she went into labor naturally, so that is what she did. It took about a month.
I never did find out why the doctors recommended that.

“Notice the the pro-abortion crowd always finds hard cases, the exceptions to the norm, to dredge up?”

Yes, exactly. It’s always these outlier “how dare they prevent this poor woman from getting the treatment she needs?” stories, isn’t it? How ‘bout some real abortion stories instead? Like the young administrative assistant who’s been sleeping with her married boss? Or the low-self-esteem gal whose n’er-do-well boyfriend threatens to leave her unless she aborts? Or maybe Indian-American who aborts her third daughter because her husband really wanted a son instead? Real, common abortion stories would put a rather different spin on things, wouldn’t they?

“She was informed that the fetus no longer had a heartbeat”

She must be lying, the first notice there was no heartbeat was enough.

Wow, that is tough.

Miscarriage is common enough in nature that the female body is already designed to handle it appropriately. Letting things happen naturally seems wise to me if the woman can handle it and doctors can be monitoring the situation.

I’m not sure what other options your relative had, but some of the “interventions” are unpleasant enough to make me prefer the natural route.

Bullshot. Texas law clearly excludes a D&C and/0r an ectopic pregnancy from the abortion law. It’s right there in black and white.

And a simple ultrasound would have confirmed no heartbeat. Not to mention that how did she know there was no heartbeat? She could only know that through a visit to her Ob/Gyn that would have sent the records over right away.

Bitch is lying.

If only abortion was legal in Texas then

Oh wait, it was.

—— I’m questioning why the doctor that told her there was no heart pleat is not the same one that she went to for the abortion.

When mothers lose a twin (its pretty common) they have to carry the dead one for up to 8 months until their body mostly dissolves the corpse to fuel the other baby’s development.

Wow, I didn't know that. Sounds icky.

I had 4 miscarriages before 8 weeks. This was 25-30 years ago though, but the usual procedure was to take a home pregnancy test to be sure. With each miscarriage I started spotting at about 7 weeks. I was put on bed rest but the spotting continued. A doctor visit each time confirmed that the fetus had died and I should expect a heavier than normal period. Nobody suggested a D&C for an early pregnancy loss. OTOH my best friend miscarried at 13 weeks and had a D&C.

I’d had 3 healthy babies by the age of 35 so most likely my miscarriages were due to “advanced maternal age” as well as my uterine abnormalities of a heart-shaped uterus and an incomplete septum. I was lucky to carry to term in the first place so I was grateful for the kids I already had, but we both wanted another child, which wasn’t meant to be. 🙁

Umm..a Dr.’s stethoscope is all that is needed to confirm no heartbeat.

Unless this woman barged into a Dr office demanding things of a Dr that had never seen her before, this story is made up garbage. Carried the dead baby for 2 weeks, huh? She would have went septic and died.

You don’t even need an ultrasound to detect a heartbeat, just that amplifier thing that listens for the heartbeat.

She’s pretty. But a “beauty YouTuber” isn’t the same as a “beautiful YouTuber.”
