A total of 376 law enforcement officers were at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas when a gunman was at large for over an hour on May 24, leaving 21 people dead.
A majority of the officers were federal and state actors, including 149 US Border Patrol officers and 91 Texas Department of Public Safety officers. Twenty-five officers were from the Uvalde Police Department, and 16 were from the Uvalde County Sheriff's Office.
"They failed to prioritize saving the lives of innocent victims over their own safety," according to an interim report released Sunday by the Texas House investigative committee on the shooting.

That’s right.
Looks like every coward in the state showed up
I can’t think of any story where it just gets worse and worse with each revelation
As long as they don’t do gun control, I don’t care how many kids get killed.
This is clearly a case where armed citizens would have done a better job. I say this as someone who normally “backs the Blue”.
Due to their ineffectiveness, they should have stood down and let the parents of the 500 students take over.
Ugh….
> Was there no leadership structure to all those officers? They are trained to respond to direction and specific orders. <
Police officers are also trained to show initiative, and respond to threats quickly. So what we have here is a failure to lead, a failure to show initiative, and simple ordinary cowardice.
I suppose we’ll never know which of those three factors contributed the most to the police failure. But cowardice certainly played a part. I wonder how any of those cops can look themselves in the mirror.
I also wonder how a Uvalde resident can stomach it when they see a Uvalde police officer in the street.
Governor Abbott must go. He is ruining Texas.
They just told on themselves.
If they can get that specific, they can report on (1) the training for each officer before the incident, (2) the persons that created obstacles in procedure, and (3) each officers’ understanding on where training + procedure went wrong.
???
what was his name again? got to remember him along with Ashley, Lavoy, Rittenhouse, and other heros.
i saw a picture of him with hair and scalp creased by a bullet from the psych drugged, parentally abandoned, abused and armed, fed ‘schooled,’ gang banger wannabe, narcissistic, mama’s boy, nut job.
The first cop on the scene had a clear shot. He asked for permission to shoot. He never got an answer
376 to 1, must of been they did not think they had a superior force to over come a lone gun man………….. guess non of them ever hear the One Texas Ranger, one riot story……..
I'd pay him a visit. A Jessie Pinkman/Gale Boetticher type of social call. I don't know why that doesn't happen.
Is that the dreaded “stack” formation?
What kind of idiot comment was that? I’ve read a lot of childish, stupid, and unfeeling statements on the Freerepublic, but you lead the pack with that one.
what a crock... Ya! after the shooter was down...
In that case, he should have presumed he had permission.
The bigger problem though is that he asked.
