LA County supervisors grant themselves ‘illegal’ power to remove sitting sheriff

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors took their opposition to Sheriff Alex Villanueva to new heights Monday with a power grab he called an “illegal motion” to make themselves “judge, jury and executioner” for his office.

Since taking office in 2018, Villanueva has stood in contrast to the soft-on-crime policies dominating California politics and the draconian measures pushed in response to the COVID pandemic. Now, ahead of a Nov. 8 election, the board demonstrated that they are not willing to leave this decision up to the will of the people and that they must have the authority to remove a sitting sheriff.

Fox 11 reported on Agenda Item 12 that received a 4-1 vote from the board led by chair Holly Mitchell that would lead to their ability to unseat the sheriff “for cause” with a four-fifths vote. Cause was defined as “a violation of any law related to the performance of their duties as sheriff; flagrant or repeated neglect of duties; a misappropriation of public funds or property; willful falsification of a relevant official statement or document; or obstruction of any investigation into the conduct of the sheriff by…any government agency with jurisdiction to conduct such an investigation.”

Villanueva fired back in a statement that he posted on social media that stated in part, “This motion is a recipe for public corruption, particularly when ’cause’ remains so broad and undefined. Allowing political appointees with an agenda to determine ’cause’ is fundamentally flawed.”

Well, Villanueva is not a conservative, but not a crazed, wild-eyed communist nutjob. He is more like a Manchin level Democrat.

Sheriff Alex Villanueva will crush the racist, white BLM females on the LA County board. Keep watching.

The sheriff should arrest and then jail the entire board of supervisors

They can decree, but the Sheriff can act

I have a house in O.C. but support Villanueva, even though I can’t vote for him. He seems to be one of the good guys.

Indeed it’s how so many vote counting rules got altered and the democrat party forced Biden on us.
Anyone who would vote democrat in the next two elections wouldn’t mind eating s**t with a dirty spoon.

I dont know how many other regular freepers her are in Los Angeles County, but I know he is a good guy. When he refused to take action on his deputies for not being vaccinated, I knew we had a winner.

LA Board of Supervisors is 4-1 Democomm. The only sane one is Kathryn Barger, who is Republican

MechaL

‘As Chicanas and Chicanos of Aztlán, we are a nationalist movement of Indigenous Gente that lay claim to the land that is ours by birthright. As a nationalist movement we seek to free our people from the exploitation of an oppressive society that occupies our land. Thus, the principle of nationalism serves to preserve the cultural traditions of La Familia de La Raza and promotes our identity as a Chicana/Chicano Gente.’

Honestly don’t know what you going on about. Villanueva is not Mexican, not a “chicano”, and was never part of La Raza. Nor is there anything wrong or disqualifying Mexican American, however Villanueva is half polish half Polish, half Puerto Rican.

Holy crap, you’re right. I usually fact-check these things; I got lazy because I’ve been sickly lately, and I mixed people up.

Bustamante (SHAME ON ME FOR MIXING THEM UP BASED ON HISPANIC LAST NAMES) is the California “rising star” I remember from years ago who was MechA.
