Brittney Griner, wearing a Nirvana T-shirt, was back in court Friday, where the WNBA star's attorney told the judge BG, who's being tried on a drug charge, was prescribed cannabis for medical use ... the same substance she was caught carrying.
Griner's lawyer, Maria Blagovolina, told the court on Friday, "The attending physician gave Brittney recommendations for the use of medical cannabis."
"The permission was issued on behalf of the Arizona Department of Health," she added.
Blagovolina also submitted tests to the court ... showing 31-year-old Griner underwent testing to ensure she complied with anti-doping regulations, and the results revealed the hooper didn't have any prohibited substances in her system.

Putin knows that the longer Griner stays in Russia, the worse it makes Biden look in front of his base. If Putin releases her too soon, he knows it will give Biden an opportunity to brag about how “forceful” Biden was in dealing with him, and how “he made him back down.”

When Brandon promised to get involved, he probably condemned her to a much longer stay in Russia. I’m sure Putin and his team were happy to thwart all these effects and make Brandon look like even more of an incompetent, doddering old fool.

We have had a few threads on this concept of being a foreigner using drugs or breaking laws in other countries.
Those with military service know this well. Back in the Seventies, you might do a port of call in Italy, and might see people doing drugs, and the people say “Oh, it isn’t a big deal, they have laws against it, but they don’t enforce them”, that kind of thing.
American Navy personnel would think it was okay, then find themselves in jail.
They don’t prosecute their own citizens, but foreigners are a completely different ball of wax.
They gave us the lecture, and a guy on our ship who was thrown in an Italian jail was still there nearly three years later, with no prospect of getting out.
I took those warnings very seriously.
