Prosecutors said a Minnesota man faked a politically motivated attack in an insurance scam.

They said Dennis Molla sprayed pro-Biden and BLM graffiti on his garage then set it on fire.

He sought a $300,000 insurance payout plus GoFundMe donations, an indictment said.

A Trump supporter falsely claimed his garage was burned by left-wing extremists in a $300,000 insurance-scam attempt, federal prosecutors say.

Dennis Molla, of Minnesota, set his own garage on fire after scrawling it with graffiti of an anarchy symbol, BLM, and Biden 2020 during the last presidential election campaign, according to an indictment reviewed by Insider. Prosecutors said Molla wanted to defraud insurers by claiming he had been politically targeted.

His story gained widespread sympathetic media coverage as he described discovering that his home had been attacked.

On September 23, 2020, Molla told CBS Minnesota that he awoke early that morning to "a loud boom, or a bang" outside his home and saw three people running away.

The outlet cited a police report that said Molla's garage, car, and three other vehicles were on fire.

Molla had been flying Trump 2020 flags at the property, he told CBS. He told police that the attack was politically motivated and referred to it as a "hate crime" in his insurance claim, court documents say.

"For them to see me express my beliefs as a Republican, it's crazy to think it came down to this," he told the Star-Tribune newspaper.

Hoax unless proven otherwise, doesn’t matter if it’s the Left or the Right. Whenever I see a story like this I always assume it’s a hoax.

"I don't remember this story at all."

Neither do I. BLM does so much real damage that faking it is about as dumb as it gets.

I hope this scumbag gets prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Wait, what? Where in that article did you see proof that this guy did that? I see an allegation, but I didn't see anything I would regard as proof.

Aren't you jumping the gun a bit, or do you know more about this story that wasn't mentioned in the part you quoted?

But I agree this guy needs to be punished for his crime.

Where did you see proof of a crime? I see an assertion, but I haven't seen any proof.

Do you have to go to the Yahoo link? I don't go to Yahoo links, because Yahoo is lying liberal garbage, and I don't want to support them by giving them any clicks.

So do you know of proof, or are you making your judgement based solely on the accusation?

So far the only “proof” I’ve read about is that they couldn’t find any “unknown males” in his neighborhood.

What I read was that the perps handwriting matched that on the garage. I didn’t bookmark the source.

I did a quick search. Most articles are just reprints. The only other I saw was some tweets saying the graffiti wasn’t done well enough.
It’s certainly possible this was insurance fraud or a try for sympathy.
It’s also possible this is an MSM smear, or a Trump hating prosecutor.

Yes, until we learn more, it could be either.
