Tier-one auto parts supplier Mahle has announced a groundbreaking "superior continuous torque" (SCT) motor for electric vehicles, capable of continuously pounding out more than 90 percent of its peak power without overheating – and it'll work without magnets.
Electric motors, unlike combustion engines, are often specified with separate peak and continuous (or nominal) power ratings. That's because running them flat-out for long periods can generate enough heat to damage components, so manufacturers build in thermal limiting systems that reduce power output down to the continuous level when they start overheating. The difference between the peak and continuous figures reflects the performance of the motor cooling system.
Here are a couple of examples. At the cheaper end of the scale would be something like the e-motor in the Ox Patagonia electric motorcycle. Peaking at 11 kW, it's so badly cooled that it can only handle a continuous 6 kW – 55 percent of the peak power. Energica's fancy new EMCE motor, on the other hand, peaks at 126 kW, but can handle a continuous 110 kW (87 percent of the peak) thanks to a very effective cooling system.
Mahle – a huge German parts supplier consistently posting sales over US$10 billion a year – says its new SCT motor takes things up a notch, with continuous power ratings over 90 percent of the peak. It uses an innovative oil cooling system that draws in oil through a central intake, then uses the centrifugal force of the spinning rotor to pump the oil up and around the stator coils surrounding it. The heat drawn out can be harvested for use elsewhere around the vehicle if required, or extracted through a radiator.

Got a cousin that bought one of those when he was stationed in Italy back when they 1st came out.
Had a friend that had some sort of fiat back in the 80s......he called it a “FIT”....because every time he worked on it that’s what it gave him....a fit. Lol!

Cooling oil can be made with ethanol the way Mobil one PAO oils were originally made. Ethanol is one (OH) hydrogen and oxygen away from ethylene which is one alpha bonded C=C plus CH2 away from being an alpha-olefin when you polymerize alpha-olefins you get polyalphaolefins some of the slickest oils on earth with the highest temperature stability and the widest viscosity range plus index. PAO oils are the gold standard for lubrication they also are the gold standard for low temperature oils that pretty much make modern HVAC and reefer units possible so subzero temps.

The electrical operation of the motor isn’t changed.
Mahle, a parts supplier and not a tech company, has a scheme that pumps cooling oil through the motor’s coils.

could, but they likely won’t, due to a number of issues that vegatable oils have that modern production of fossil fuel based oils have eliminated.

Synthetic oils are typically created from chemically modified materials such as petroleum components, but the base material is almost always distilled crude oil. Any additional additives and the actual synthesis process for creating synthetic oil varies among producers and is considered a trade secret.
“Sythetic” comes merely from how the base crude is modified (as opposed to simply more “refined”) and added to with various chemicals.
The base is still a fossil fuel (crude oil).

We are not at the "beginning" of EV's. EVs have been around for 120 years. Guess what? They sucked then. They still suck.

I owned a Fiat 850 Spider once. It had a whopping 850 cc engine ! I would grues the typical battery pack of a modern EV probably weighs more than the Fiat did.

Who told you this? With a DC motor it certainly does use the whole wire. With AC you have to be fairly high in frequency to produce “skin effect” that would negate the inside of a wire

You’re not totally incorrect (center of a cable is not significant at high frequencies), but at DC, 60Hz AC the whole wire is used.
