Freakin EU, oh wait...

I can’t think of anything more inept than to keep a vehicle in the lowest-speed ratio, 1st gear, which gets the very worst mileage, compared to 3rd gear. Obviously you waste more gas.
As usual, it's not about safety, it's about leftist coercion.

“... and encourage people to walk and cycle.”
And if they lowered to 5mph it would encourage even more walking and cycling.
Why do “normal” people let fools like these run their lives?? It’s a mystery I haven’t been able to crack.
Spent 2+ weeks driving around in Scotland last May. All the road signs including distances and speed are still in miles and MPH. This apparently is the case in all of the UK and that surprised me. I suspect the cost and effort of changing hundreds of thousands of signs wasn’t worth it. They must have had an official EU waiver pre-Brexit.
Why not five, why not two?
And in fact all it will do is lead to disparate speeds on roads equals more wrecks, more congestion, and basically a completely worse mess. Idiots.
Why not 10?

Good question.
The difference between 30mph and 20mph is a more than just some numbers. 20mph is an absolute freakin’ crawl in a vehicle. A human being can run 20mph, but I guess maybe that’s the point, just like getting rid of gas stations.
Maybe they should just start driving on the right side of the road.

Sorry. That was supposed to be a comment on my previous comment that the leftist elites think only they should have cars and the right to travel. Think that previous comment got “iPhoned.”
“But doesn’t Britain use the metric system now?”
The UK is hybrid — Distances are usually in miles/mph; yards, feet, inches. Liquid measurements are pints for beer/ale and cider, but milliliters (ml) from wine, spirits, tonic, soda, etc. Gasoline is in imperial gallons. Most other weights and measures are metric although I have also seen pounds and ounces.
So, are you whales from Scotland?
You could tell that the cast loved doing that scene.
20 miles an hour is reasonable. Remember, those people drive on the left side of the road.
So that’s what that Pink Floyd song was about...LOL!!!
Get rid of cars for elected officials first
And British Pints are 20 oz vs US Pints are 16 oz.
