Range?
You don’t need range peasant.
You will drive where and when we tell you.

Until CSS 1 chargers are commonplace and reliable and EV’s can charge from 0 to 80% in under 8 minutes, no thank you for EV’s.

There were similar issues when they started publishing city and highway mileage for real automobiles. They weren’t very realistic.
If people want to buy highway capable golf carts they should be able to buy them. But we should not have the Federales trying to force us to buy that trash.

I'm waiting to see what AAA does with its roadside assistance vans. Are they going to have to upgrade to trucks with a 480 volt diesel generator and universal quick charge adapter to give the equivalent of a shot of gasoline for EV cars? Or "helper packs" to get you to the next charging station?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I can't even imagine how bad EVs will be in cold climates.

First, batteries are not as efficient as temperature drops. Compare your car's cold cranking amps to regular cranking amps.

Second, when heating a regular car, the heating is free. When heating an electric car, it saps your battery very quickly. And summertime air conditioning will be equally bad, if not worse.

Electric cars might be serviceable in Southern California. Anywhere else they will be pure crap.

...and the government’s building more charging infrastructure along the highways every day.

And that's the scary part that many people are missing.

What the government provides, the government can take away.

We are literally putting the government in control of whether or not we can recharge our vehicles or not. All they need to do is flip a switch and all EV drivers are confined to their home area.

I was chastised and criticized in this forum when I questioned the advertised v. real world ranges for EV. I questioned if the advertised range was like the MPG ratings. I was told I didn’t know what I was talking about when I raised the same points about payload weights, a/c operation, cold weather, etc.
BTW, those inflated MPG ratings are done using a very similar process as the range ratings for EV.

Not too mention that without a massive upgrade to the electric grid all this ev nonsense is just mental onanism anyway.

The practical limit for EVs is a single round trip within a city.

What’s amazing is the federal government is actively planning to eliminate fossil fuels in the 2030s. If regular people don’t accept that, tough sh!t. The Great Reset is upon us.

The 2022 Toyota Prius Prime for the discriminating virtue signaler who does not want to run out of charge while signaling

I just noticed this marketing innovation by Toyota for the 2022 Prius Prime that overcomes EV charging and range anxiety issues. A transitional hybrid that gets 52 mpg that driver can switch to EV mode and back to hybrid. Toyota has a good feel for consumer psychology. They realize there is a limited market for EVs because of range anxiety and away from home charging issues. So, they have produced a hybrid that can switch back and forth between hybrid and EV drive. Basically, drive most of a long trip in hybrid mode and switch to EV mode locally where you can charge it at home while you sleep. They are ingenious masters of consumer market psychology and supplying the demand. Now, they can go out and buy Twitter (to be renamed Twitota) with the profits from stealing a little EV market share from Elon

“2022 Prius Prime offers the best of both worlds: impressive fuel economy and the flexibility of electric charging. Discover how much you can save with this plug-in hybrid’s ability to drive solely on electricity and seamlessly switch to hybrid mode when the charge runs out”

According to consumer Reports, when it comes to brands that most satisfy their owners, Tesla ranked number one with a score of 82, followed by Porsche at 80, Genesis at 75, and Chrysler and Dodge at 74.

Read the entire article. Author was quite verbose, took a lot to say what only needed one paragraph. They need those paragraphs to introduce ads between them—so much for internet “journalism.”

The Auto writer out there, IMHO, is Eric Peters, I usually catch his column on Lew Rockwell.com

He has written a great deal on EV’s and their faults

check him out at ericpeters.com I think

The impact of cold weather on range can mean up to a 30% range cut.

The estimated range on an SUV in the winter drops from about 280 miles in summer to about 160 miles in the winter.

So a 30% cut in range from 160 miles is crazy.......

Well, nevaDUH has already passed legislation “requiring” 50% by 2030 and 100% by 2050 of ZEE-ROW carbon emissions. Not sure what the penalty is for not meeting those goals. Yup, run Vegas on wind and solar. 🤑🤔😁✌
