CDC: 7 deaths in Florida amid "one of the worst outbreaks of meningococcal disease among gay and bisexual men in U.S. history"

Health officials on Wednesday recommended that men in Florida who have sex with other men get a meningococcal vaccine following what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention called "one of the worst outbreaks of meningococcal disease among gay and bisexual men in U.S. history."

The CDC said in a statement that there have been at least 24 cases and seven deaths among gay and bisexual men caused by the bacteria in Florida recently. The CDC also recommended that gay and bisexual men traveling to Florida should ask their health care provider about getting the vaccine.

"Because of the outbreak in Florida, and the number of Pride events being held across the state in coming weeks, it's important that gay and bisexual men who live in Florida get vaccinated, and those traveling to Florida talk to their healthcare provider about getting a MenACWY vaccine," said José Romero, director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.

Meningococcal disease is caused by a bacteria, and when the linings of the brain and spinal cord become infected, it is called meningitis.

Meningococcal disease usually presents as an infection of meningitis or a bloodstream infection about three to seven days after exposure, the CDC said. Both are serious and can be deadly.

There is a scary little trend here that suggests perhaps that the Word is being selectively applies. The Word of God is inerrant and must be seen in its totality. To say the wages of sin is death in consideration of only one person or one group misinterprets the Word. For it is also written that all have sinned and fallen short of God. And again, let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

God is offended by all sin. He finds no degree in sin. There are not sins that are less or worse in the eyes of God. The law reminds us they each of sin and have broken every commandment and the gospel saves us from our sin through the one sacrifice of Christ on the cross (and He laid the iniquities of us all on Him, and by His stripes we are healed, Isaiah). Christ perfected in life became sin for all of us and atoned for each of us personally and forever. Something we could not do for ourself. For no man can keep the law. The Sadducees and Pharisees had a really hard time with that concept and often used the words of God not in their totality which Christ rebuked. The reason clergy wear entirely black with the white collar is to remind those who preach they are covered in sin, but Gods words (the only white which is directly closest to their mouth from which the power of the word is preached) is pure and washes the sin.

Perhaps instead of standing in judgment it would be better for you and us to preach the love of Christ in all things and point to his sacrifice for us that all may join in salvation (it is Gods intent for all to be saved) instead of using the word as a weapon to divide. Perhaps it would be better for all of us who proclaim Christ Risen and sins forgiven to preach the entire word (Go and make disciples of all nations — the synoptic gospels) instead of weaponizing it. I say this as a sinner redeemed by Christ, and have have pointed out your error not by my judgment, but in the Word so you might consider what you have said.
