Not that difficult. You feed them, pat them and play with them when they want, and leave them alone the rest of the time. Now where’s my grant?

From the article:
“In short: a well-socialized kitten becomes a well-adjusted adult, and we'd like to do whatever we can to ensure the creation of more well-socialized kittens. Wish we could do this with Liberals!

Cats clean themselves by licking their fur with their tongues. When they do so, they leave a small amount of tongue protein on their fur that dries and is constantly shed throughout the house. After a period of time, everything in your house has a thin layer of cat tongue protein on it....everything!
A friend has four big dogs inside his house, he has a sign that says, "dog hair is a condiment" in this house. He's correct, I never eat there.(And, only went once)
BTW, when I know, I don't even go inside a cat owners house.
I have dogs but they live outside!!

Cats have zero empathy with or for their humans. They adopt the most accesible human they can find, and latch onto them like a leech. I have an idiot brother with five acts, each of which merely arrived independently at his door one day, and like an idiot he gave them food and shelter. Now they own him.

Hey UC Davis.
My cats obey five commands: come, no, up, down and stay.
If I had gotten the cats early in their lives, I would have potty trained them.

The survey makes it seem like it is difficult to socialize a cat. As long as the cat is not disturbed or weaned too early, they tend to settle into nice cat behaviors with minimal interaction. They don’t step on a hot stove twice. The three year-old who gets scratched learns how NOT to touch kitty.
I did have one cat who was likely bi-polar. However, when she was affectionate, no cat was more affectionate. WHen she is in a bad mood just leave her be. I doubt training would have made a difference, and we weren’t going to get cat psychotropic drugs.
Finally, SOME cats NEED outdoor time. We are in the city, so we tried to keep Eustace indoors for his safety. (There are Coyotes near the mountains, and we didn’t know if he was car smart.) Twice, as an older kitten he ate things that caused an obstruction (Lego tire, chair leg tip piece). He has stopped these habits once we got a cat flap and was permitted outside. Our new neighborhood cats are fine, and we have seen no coyotes in our new home. The other cat can go outside, but rarely chooses to do so, she is far less interested in guarding the perimeter (well defined with cinder block walls, which also protects against less athletic coyotes.)
