Classic
Since we aren't seeing him squalking about this post, chances are Humblegunner is choking one right now.
Someone else mentioned you and I thought you’d want to know.
I’ve been thinking about getting some chickens as pets and source of fresh eggs. I worry about the smell. Do hens make a lot of noise?
Everyone here understands perfectly what you mean.
Hi.
Cock fighting is big in Florida. Same with PA and OH.
Kill a man’s champion rooster, there is a price to be paid.
Not that I know anything about the sport.
5.56mm
Hens aren’t too noisy; I guess it depends how close your neighbors are. But they will smell, and you have to keep your coop nice and clean, which can be a lot of work.
On our Iowa acreage years ago our rooster spurred my two year old on the face.
Fried chicken a day later.

I was almost blinded by a rooster once. They can be mean, and VERY strong. By contrast, the hens were really sweet - you’d pick them up and they’d nestle into your lap to suck heat.
And complain in writing with copies sent to city council and the sheriff’s dept. or city police, not just the city or animal control in general. With highlighted copies of any relevant ordinances. Write it like it’s an affidavit. Use bullet points to highlight interactions with the problem animal. Pictures and dates.
It may seem fussy and Karen like, but it gets the attention of the legal department, because it is clearly laying the groundwork for a lawsuit. And just like that, the problem animals go away.
I did this when my neighbors allowed their druggie son to live in an RV with his multiple pitbulls and a german shepherd.
If only he choked his OWN chicken he’d be OK

Yes, Document everything.
Note that in the video the neighbor claims that the man that went to prison never complained about the rooster.
If it isn’t documented it didn’t happen as far as the law is concerned.
I had a Rhode Island Red rooster that hated me. He was large and had spurs 6 inches long and could do considerable damage with them. We would fight and both come away bloodied. I can believe that the fellow feared for his well being.
The Voice of Experience is most often ignored by the young.
Modern popular media reinforces that attitude.
In modern movies young kids make their parents or grandparents look like fools.
You think roosters are bad?
Try having a neighbor with a Peacock.
Excellent fertilizer however
Nothing, not even rooster, make as annoying a sound as yappy ankle biting lap dogs.
When hens are about to lay an egg they clatter quite a bit. They aren’t silent. The rooster will be silent most of the time once they get it out of their system at dawn, unless there is another one within his range of hearing, in which case, they will engage in growing competitions.
Other than that they only crow at night if passing headlights, or some other light source like a flashlight, fools them into thinking it is sunrise.
