Charges have been brought against an educator who was earlier this year dubbed “teacher of the year” by Athens City Schools.
According to the police, Daelyn Waldroup, 26, broke into a car after scaling a fence to get to one that was impounded at a vehicle impound facility.
According to an affidavit obtained, this occurred on the morning of June 6.
It states that J Pro Car & Towing on Decatur Pike received a call from Athens police.
According to the report, the officer discovered Waldroup there sitting in a locked car behind a fenced-in area.
According to the affidavit, she informed the officer that she was “gathering documentation to get the automobile registered so that she could pick it up.”
She informed the officer that a staff member had told her she could obtain her documents, but the staff member informed the officer that this was untrue and that she had counseled the woman against going outside the fence.
The affidavit states that the officer, who was now joined by another officer, discovered “a small amount of marijuana, two pipes with marijuana residue, two grinders with marijuana residue, scraper and a huge container that held most of these goods.”
After that, Waldroup was detained and accused of violating the law against auto burglaries, breaking and entering, possessing marijuana, and having drug paraphernalia.

Something about this makes me think the police should contact the registered owner to see if they actually sold the vehicle to Miss Waldroup: “gathering documentation to get the automobile registered so that she could pick it up.”
Hmm. Break into an impound lot. Find a car with title papers in glovebox. Forge Owner’s Signature. Re-register vehicle. Pay a few hundred bucks to the lot for a car worth several thousand at least. Resell vehicle for cash. Nice scam.

She has the right gender, ethnicity, hairstyle, and (undoubtedly) politics, so who cares if she’s a criminal? At any rate, it was systemic racism and white supremacy that drove her to commit these crimes. /s
