Charges have been brought against an educator who was earlier this year dubbed “teacher of the year” by Athens City Schools.
According to the police, Daelyn Waldroup, 26, broke into a car after scaling a fence to get to one that was impounded at a vehicle impound facility.
According to an affidavit obtained, this occurred on the morning of June 6.
It states that J Pro Car & Towing on Decatur Pike received a call from Athens police.
According to the report, the officer discovered Waldroup there sitting in a locked car behind a fenced-in area.
According to the affidavit, she informed the officer that she was “gathering documentation to get the automobile registered so that she could pick it up.”
She informed the officer that a staff member had told her she could obtain her documents, but the staff member informed the officer that this was untrue and that she had counseled the woman against going outside the fence.
The affidavit states that the officer, who was now joined by another officer, discovered “a small amount of marijuana, two pipes with marijuana residue, two grinders with marijuana residue, scraper and a huge container that held most of these goods.”
After that, Waldroup was detained and accused of violating the law against auto burglaries, breaking and entering, possessing marijuana, and having drug paraphernalia.

Girls’ night out.
This is no big deal. Ms. Waldroup was probably just looking for a quiet place to do her lesson plans.
NOW will you take down the “Heroes Work Here” sign out front?
Exemplary 21st century school teacher. Excellent example of America's education system in the 21st century.
BTW, my mother was an elementary school teacher, an excellent teacher, who loved her profession and every student she ever taught.
She’s a teacher? She looks like she’s 12
And there are quiet reasonable people who still think it is a good idea to arm teachers.
Nice website. Look at this psychopath, arrested for trying to meet a 2 year old for sex......
> And there are quiet reasonable people who still think it is a good idea to arm teachers. <
I’m actually in favor of that idea, provided that the teacher has a bit of training and is either a veteran or over 35 years of age. Based on her picture, I’m guessing that leaves Ms. Waldroup out.
Check the vicinity. Halfway between Chattanooga and Knoxville (mega crime capital of Tennessee). Lot of car boosting, and parts salvage going on.
She climbed a fence around an impound facility, to get to a car late at night, just to smoke marihuana? And she went alone? Seems she has a drug addiction.
She does appear to be 12 but she’s no Shirly Temple.
In college she was a cheerleader. All-around swell gal. http://www.twcbulldogs.com/roster/14/9/4206.php
Does any doubt exist as to what kind of woke BS she has been pushing to her students?
I think not.
Was she a teacher of dogs?
“Daelyn Waldroup, North City Elementary ‘teacher of the year’ was charged with auto burglary, trespassing, drug possession”
If this is what the ‘Teacher of the Year’ does in her spare time, just imagine what the other teachers, the ones who don’t earn that title, do.
Is Athens the mega crime capital of Tennessee, or is Knoxville? I couldn’t tell which you meant.
I don't believe that this miscreant could or would pass a background check.
Ouch.
I want to know what the criteria was that led to her selection as teacher of the year....????
