My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril.
Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product. And do it now.

Recently, I forgot and started pumping my own gas in NJ. Luckily, the attendant didn't understand English all that well, and mistook my "I'm sorry...you can pump" for "I'll do it." I felt like Braveheart.

Weird how I have had liberal friends for years and loved them dearly yet when they “found out” I was conservative, they went berserk and ditched me instantly.

I know that I am a typical “2 x 4” person, which means that in certain things, I have to be hit over the head with a 2 x 4 to get a point across.
When I proposed to my wife all those years ago, I said one thing I could not abide was mind games, and implored her never to employ them. Always be straight up with me, even if it hurts me, and I operate best that way. For example, if I ask if something is bothering her and she says “No”, then...that is the end of it. I won’t be analyzing her voice or facial expressions. I accept that “no” is “no”.
I have always been that way. So you can imagine what my response was when my friend said all these things to me.
I can’t talk about it with anyone else, because he obviously harbors these feelings towards others in my circle of acquaintance, and I don’t want to poison anything.
But when I told this, angrily and nearly tearfully to my wife, she gently told me in no uncertain words that the issue lay not with me.
I have tried to reconcile with this friend and succeeded to a degree on my part because I valued both him and the friendship, but I suspect that our relationship is damaged in his eyes to a severer degree. He is a friend, and largely alone, and I feel I owe him that effort for a lifelong friendship, at least in my eyes.
But something in my heart tells me it will never recover fully.
I was thinking the same thing. If Joe says we are in a state of war, he can try to compel companies through the emergency act, am I correct?

“A time of war and global peril”? What the hell is Jo Jo talking about. What war? What global peril? The illegal immigrant invasion of America across our southern border? Sexual disorientation in our Headstarts and Kindergartens? The war for that last package of toilet paper at the supermarket? Does he mean he’s starting a war on “refugee” Circle K “associates”?
I believe he is setting the stage for just that.
Demonizing gas station owners is the first step.
