I have been watching the old Batman series. Apparently Sinatra wanted one of the villian roles and was so mad that they wouldn’t cast him that he refused to play anything else.
Don’t remember which one he wanted. I think it was the Joker
;>)
Visited a rest stop?
I seriously doubt it he stopped there because he needed to urinate. Sounds like a gay bashing incident to me.
Weird headline.
Mark Steyn loved “Guys and Dolls”. I think it is one of the worst musicals of the era. One memorable song (Luck Be a Lady Tonight”) and a stupid story. Brando was completely miscast. Sinatra, a much better singer than actor, wasn’t that much in his element. No chemistry. No real drama. Not much humor.
Now that it turns out that Brando gets beaten up and Sinatra’s wife acted in a scandalous way, I can only say it figures. Worst ju-ju since “The Conqueror”.
“Brando, who died on July 1, and Sinatra were probably fairly typical of leading men in their era, both with voracious sexual appetites (the former notoriously for women and men).”
The same can be said about ‘women and men’ for Burt Lancaster. Supposedly, Rock Hudson and Burt Lancaster made it OK to be a faq in Hollywood.
It was 2 guys wearing red “I Like Ike” hats.
My understanding of Frank Sinatra’s connection to the mob was that he was feeding them a lot of cash in exchange for high profile gigs. His ability to send them a lot of money is why he was protected by the mob, not because he was really doing anything nefarious.
They had a symbiotic relationship. They’d find him high paying gigs and he would send them a decent percentage of the pay.
At least that is what I have been able to find you.

A few footnotes:
I was in high school when Brando first appeared on the screen. All the girls thought he was quite the hunk. I lived in a Chicago suburb, Marlon was from downstate somewhere. In the good old days of phone books, we looked up Marlon’s family’s phone and called several times saying, “Is Marlon there?” apparently they got so many calls, they must have changed their phone number.
And re Sinatra: Gloria Vanderbilt, Anderson Cooper’s mother said she loved sleeping with Frank, but he had so many women after him, he never stayed with one woman for more than two weeks. I read that in their wonderful book, “The Rainbow Comes and Goes.” I read. it after my son died and found it enormously helpful. Anderson’s brother committed suicide at age 22 right in front of his mother. Took her two years to stop crying.
