I can understand having a some cash immediately available, but in a closet???
A person of his means should, at very least, have a basic safe in the house to keep guns and cash in.
Almost willing to bet that someone he knows did this. They had to know that he had that in there. A safe would have slowed em down, if not outright prevented the theft.
Sounds like a real estate broker is about to get sued...

...and yet, the person who did this was able to evade all of the security measures, and find a bag full of money hidden in a closet in a 10,000 square foot house. They were very familiar with the property and knew exactly where to go to find the money. The other rooms that they "rummaged through" were probably a diversion to make it look like a stranger had broken in.
He should have hid it like I do. Under the mattress where no one would ever look. On another note. The cops need to talk to his “friends.” Way too convenient that they knew where to look and what to grab. Oh... And get a dog .
