Battle Maps of the Civil War: The Eastern Theater, American Battlefield Trust
Gaines Mill is where my great x something confederate soldier uncle was killed.
So you’ve got skin in the game. I wish I knew more about my forbearer’s participation in the Civil War. The ones I know a little about migrated, from generation to generation, from Pennsylvania throughout the mid-west. So my kin were most likely on the Union side.
Hi Professor.
“Powhite Creek.”
I wonder who’s side the Indians were on?
5.56mm
Sorry, I don't follow. What Indians?
The Mattaponi, Pamunkey, and others like the Chickahominy.
Mostly of the Algonquin tribes.
Powhite were Indians in the area (Charles City towards end of peninsula).

I don’t recall reading about Indians involved in the eastern theater. More out west, especially in the Trans-Mississippi.
