A formal announcement is expected on Tuesday afternoon as the government faces mounting pressure from tourism and travel associations to do away with vaccine mandates to help ease the chaos that has erupted at Canada’s airports and bring rules in line with provincial public health measures.
The new rules are expected to come into effect on June 20, though two government sources close to the decision, who were granted anonymity to speak about matters they were not authorized to discuss publicly, say the rules for foreign nationals coming to Canada will not change: International travellers coming to Canada will still be required to show proof of vaccination....
Travel industry groups have blamed federal public health measures for slowdowns at airport customs that have contributed to long waits for passengers and forced flight delays and cancellations. In recent weeks, Toronto’s Pearson airport has had planes stuck at gates and hours-long security lines because of staffing shortages.
The vaccine mandate will also be lifted for domestic travellers on passenger trains and buses, allowing unvaccinated Canadians to move more freely around the country.
The change will also affect federal workers who have been put on unpaid leave because of their vaccination status.
The government made no secret that it hoped the mandates would pressure Canadians to get their shots, saying the move was necessary to protect the public from severe illness and transmission of the virus.
After the Omicron variant overwhelmed the country, opposition members and some experts began to question the effectiveness of the mandate, since Omicron was still transmissible among people considered fully inoculated....

They care, only because they’re losing tax revenue and have to support any unemployed workers
Trudeau would personally probably have liked to keep everything closed, rather than give even a sliver of credit to the Truckers, if they hadn’t been pressured by the tourism industry
If they were concerned about tax revenue, they’d be flaming capitalists instead of socialists and commies.

They obviously don’t want my tourist dollars. Before 2020, I made a trip to Canada every fall and would spend at least $2K in a long weekend.

It should be obvious to anyone paying attention that the vaccines are useless against this virus (RNA viruses in general) and are actually dangerous to the health of the public.
The lockdowns have actually been detrimental to the economy and from what I have seen have cost more lives than they have saved (if they saved any at all).
I went to Washington DC on the weekend of the 4th and 5th, with the rapid antigen test still required for entry into the United States and as of this past weekend, it is no longer required. I also had to use the ArriveCan app to notify of my coming back to Canada last Saturday morning, so you show that receipt along with your passport. I did this previously in December when going to and from my US mailing address in Ogdensburg, NY.

I grew up in the suburbs of Buffalo.
I can not imagine the amount of tourist revenue that the people/companies in Niagara Falls, ONT have lost because of not allowing people to cross the border.
When I lived there we used to go back and forth across the border all the time. Between Crystal Beach amusement park(long gone), Consumers Beverage, certain Gentleman’s clubs, and going to the falls it was a weekly thing.
Also, a lot of Canadians came into the US to buy smokes, gasoline, food and clothing.
