Trudeau’s Justice Minister and Canadian Attorney General David Lametti announced this week that Canadians do not have an “absolute right to own private property.”

There is a tree that needs watering...
The stupid Canucks have give up most of their guns making that so much harder to do…
The AG should be the first to be relieved of anything he believes is his.
An old commie adage. know your enemies yet?
True, but my comment was meant to be broader than just applying to Canada.
“The AG should be the first to be relieved of anything he believes is his.”
Starting with air.
So what - they just decree that and that’s that?
That sounds like a dictatorship to me…
How about Lametti be more clear? Who owns the property of a Canadian citizen?
Say it. Let your country know exactly what you mean.
“They’re just common sense property ownership restrictions.”
Voters just reelected the Trudeau regime.
Plenty of holes in their border.
In related news, the Montreal Canadiens will be changing their name to the Montreal Serfs.
I knew that. Unfortunately, most of the public doesn’t get it - the left wants to take away your money and your property.
(T)he theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property. This is the force that is asserting itself in Canada right now. Certainly one reason they want the USA divided.
We Communists have been reproached with the desire of abolishing the right of personally acquiring property as the fruit of a man’s own labor, which property is alleged to be the groundwork of all personal freedom, activity and independence.
Hard-won, self-acquired, self-earned property! Do you mean the property of petty artisan and of the small peasant, a form of property that preceded the bourgeois form? There is no need to abolish that; the development of industry has to a great extent already destroyed it, and is still destroying it daily.
Or do you mean the modern bourgeois private property?
But does wage labor create any property for the laborer? Not a bit. It creates capital, i.e., that kind of property which exploits wage-labor, and which cannot increase except upon condition of begetting a new supply of wage-labor for fresh exploitation. Property, in its present form, is based on the antagonism of capital and wage labor.
Let us examine both sides of this antagonism. To be a capitalist is to have not only a purely personal, but a social status in production. Capital is a collective product, and only by the united action of many members, nay, in the last resort, only by the united action of all members of society, can it be set in motion. Capital is therefore not only personal; it is a social power.
When, therefore, capital is converted into common property, into the property of all members of society, personal property is not thereby transformed into social property. It is only the social character of the property that is changed. It loses its class character. …
Communist Manifesto, chapter 2
Voters? There has been plenty of fraud alleged up there as well, but of course not investigated.
What are they going to do, levy property taxes so you can never own your property? That would be downright criminal. Oh wait..
Canada is now a Communist country.
Actually, while our Consitution implies “property rights”, at the end of the day the laws and the SCOTUS have been no better at preserving those rights than the ideas uttered by the Canadian official - which is, in sum, that “the public interest” can supercede private property rights, merely becuse those reseponsible for “the public interest” say so.
