GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - As the 100 deadly days of summer moves forward, we wanted to take a look at how one recently passed state law is affecting drivers.
The ‘move right’ law, or as many call it the ‘slowpoke’ law.
“If you are traveling on a controlled access highway, you should stay out of the left hand lane unless you are passing or overtaking a car,” said Corporal Joe Hovis, with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Here, in Florida, we have a multitude of imported third worlders.
As a result we have a multitude of third word drivers. I swear some are ignorant to just what a rear view mirror is for .....same for turn signals.
The left lane wasn’t created as their personal travel conveyance.
“The intent of this law is good, but in practice it doesn’t work.”
Why not?
If there were a way to enforce it, I believe we should have tiered licensing. That is, it would take another level of training and testing to be licensed to drive on controlled access (e.g. freeways) roads. A lot of people have no business driving on them.
If someone has to explain why traveling in the left hand lane taking 2 minutes to pass a truck is the workings of a liberal, then I guess you wont believe me when I point out this is proof
You are a brain dead liberal.
self appointed traffic cops.
I hate them
If traffic is somewhat dense, the left lane will be continuously filled with people who are overtaking those in the next lane to the right. The different lanes aren’t supposed to be all traveling at the same speed, there’s supposed to be shear, with the left lane moving the fastest, the next lane to the right moving more slowly, and any subsequent lanes to the right moving more slowly still. That’s why the left lane is sometimes called the “fast lane”.
Yep. Same here. I think driver’s ed is different now. Apparently...

Huh?
It is called the Hammer Lane in Texas.
I’m stealing that.
“Why not?”
Because people like you insist on driving 65 mph in the fast lane. You might be passing someone doing 63 mph, and you think you are following the law, but you are actually being a thick headed slow poke.
When I lived in Seattle I had a great fantasy: I would drive a military hummer with big crash bars in the front and drive in the passing lane at fairly high speed. When I come on a slowpoke, I flash my lights. If they don’t pull over I ram them off the road.
Man that would be fun.
The slowpokes should move to NY where vehicle and traffic laws are optional.
No, but it should not have a Subaru with a Coexist sticker going 55mph either.
I fantasize about a big V-blade on the front of my truck.
Yep, gonna bet a few hundred tickets for obstructing a roadway (big deal here like low level DUI) and some news stories and people might start driving appropriately.
Int eh part of Texas I am it’s common (esp during daylight) for traffic to be moving 90+ and 70% of the time the person obstructing the left lane is usually a middle aged or older woman in a minivan or or a prius going 2mph over the speed limit on cruise when traffic is trying to move 15-20 faster.
I honk—a lot.

Your personal attack does not explain why the law won’t work!
I drive from south Kentucky to Chicago a lot (grandkids in Chicago area). I’ve learned how to deal with trucks that pass other trucks - and take forever to do it.
I guage the distance they have between themself and the truck in front of them - both of them being in the right lane. I then time it to come up on the rear truck when they are still a fair distance behind the truck in front of them. Often they will let me by. But often they want to take their opportunity to take the left lane to do their several minute pass of the other truck.
When they do the latter, thanks to my timing, I move into the right lane and pass them on the right, while there is still plenty of room to pull in front of them as I pass the same truck they were trying to pass.
I do that four or five times every trip. I keep waiting to see myself in those “truck dash cam” videos on Youtube. 🤣
