Simple explanation. Deer occasionally eat birds.

Another time, a rabbit stopped at the edge of the woods to take a dump.
Checking his surroundings as it was squatting realized there was a bear next to it doing it’s business.
Bear looks to the rabbit and ask…>>Do you have a problem with poop sticking to your fur?
Rabbit replies…>>Not at all.
So the bear grabs the rabbit and uses it to wipe his butt.

I mean, a deer helping a rabbit get away from a hawk sounds like the plot of a Disney movie, really. Its only a Disney movie if the if the deer is homosexual (or at least questioning), the rabbit is a transgender immigrant, and the hawk is played with an authoritarian, Southern male accent.
