Okay, finally got Covid, may have had it previously. But this time, temperature is 104-105, sore throat, congestion, cough, achy joints, etc.
I have not received any of the experimental Covid vaccines, but am current on all other medically recommened and approved shots. I am 62, technically obese, and have a bad history with H1N1 vaccine in 2010. In that, I ended up in the hospital for a week, diagnosed then and later with an enlarged heart and irregular heartbeat.
Doctor is currently offering choice of Paxlovid or Sotrovimab monoclonal treatment, plus ibuprofen.
Anyone got thoughts and history with these two approaches? Or, something else to do?
I’ve had friends with similar situation as you and they got the monoclonal treatment, it worked very well for them.
Get well soon !
Now that I think about it, Paxlovid is made by Pfizer.
If you are paying any attention on what is coming out about their vaccine, I’d stay away from it!!
I just got over it myself. I am doubly vaxxed but not boosted, and refuse to get the boosters. Let me have CoVid every few months before I’ll have another fake vaccine.
I take a slew of vitamins and supplements. We take quercetin, zinc, D3, C, K2, selenium, turmeric, lysine, NAC, melatonin (at night), and a multi vitamin every day since April 2020.
I upped the doses of lysine, quercetin, zinc, D3, and C. Our very scaredy-cat kids absolutely insisted that we take Paxlovid, so our doctor wrote a script for that (husband was exposed on a work trip, then I was exposed once he came home). The Paxlovid leaves a very bitter, metallic type taste in your mouth. To overcome that, we sucked on hard candies, or sometimes had chips or sweet things as snacks. We never eat that stuff, but out of desperation to rid ourselves of the taste, we did this time.
My fever never got higher than 101.7 and broke within 36 hours of discovering I was positive. We took Theraflu nighttime syrup at bedtime. After the first two sleepless nights, we were both fine. I got 70% of my energy back by day 3, and all of it by day 5. I haven’t had symptoms since Sunday (day 4) other than the energy thing, which was back completely by Monday. I tested positive a week ago today.
We ate simple meals when I didn’t feel like cooking. I usually have stuff in the freezer so sometimes reheated a casserole or had soup and sandwiches for dinner. It was nothing more than a head cold for either of us. It’s hard to believe they’ve made everyone so freaking scared of this thing. It’s an annoying brat in my eyes.
FLCCC protocol with lots of Ivermectin, stat!
Back during Delta, three family members tested positive. For one, it was too late for monoclonal antibodies. He had a rough ride with Covid, but being fairly young and in good health, pulled through without having to be hospitalized. Still no sense of taste or smell, though. The other two got the MABs. One had symptoms before the infusion that quickly disappeared afterwards. One, elderly with health conditions, never developed symptoms.
But that’s just anecdotal and that was the Delta strain.
Here’s an article about Paxlovid and possible rebound:

Do some research on the internet, come up with questions for your doctor, and do try to decide right away before it’s too late.
***In your place, I’d be asking my doctor whether Sotrovimab is doing the trick for patients in your area now if he thinks you have the dominant strain there. And ask what he would would choose for himself or if you were his parent, sibling, etc., with same symptoms and health conditions.***
Sure, go ahead and take a multivitamin, vitamins D, C, quercitin, extra zinc and so forth if you have them on hand — likely helpful. But please don’t wait on starting one of the options your doctor offered. Personally, I wouldn’t bother with ivermectin (unless I had worms, in which case it would very likely help with covid), but it probably would not hurt you if dosed correctly. (President Trump did not bother with it, got the MABs.)
I’m not a doctor, nor do I play one on FR.
I had Covid in February of 2020 before there was anything for it. Had high fever and symptoms similar to yours, then wham! — horrible lung congestion, could barely breathe, felt like I was drowning. Never, ever had that sensation before. Never wondered if this was *it* before, either, not even when I had malaria. I made it through alive (no hospital) but fatigue afterward for some time.
***Please don’t delay.*** Remember poor Terart! Your symptoms are already beyond the “just a cold” stage, and a temp that high in an adult is worrying.
And please let us know how you are doing. I’m sure many here will pray for you. Hope this was helpful.
If you don’t have one, get a pulse/oxy meter and monitor your oxygen saturation. Check with your doctor and see what he would recommend as a safe oxygen level. Ask your doctor for a prescription for supplemental oxygen, in addition to the medicine you decide on. I have no recommendation WRT which therapy to try.
Nirmatrelvir & Ritonavir 20 x 150 MG & 10 x 100MG Tablet Therapy Pack 30 Each
Oh, yeah, I did take 2 Advil one day when I had a headache. That must’ve been the first or second day. I use budesonide nasal spray at night every night, even when I wasn’t sick with CoVid, but I think it helped the stuffy nose aspect. I drink a decent amount of water usually, so kept that up (at least 32 oz every day). Also I’m a junkie for freshly squeezed orange juice, and luckily I had just purchased some from our grocery store before I got sick. Had a glass or two of that first thing every morning. Sure tasted great! Basically, we just rested when we felt like it, and played cards, read, or did quiet hobbies. We had our windows open for fresh air, and went outside and just sat and listened to birds several times each day. I was BORED by the third day and anxious to start working out in my yard again, which is where I spend a lot of my time once it became real Spring here. For the record, I’m 62, on no meds except for OTC allergy stuff and restless legs medicine. I’m at normal weight and BMI for my height. Good luck!
“When is it not Covid but just the common cold?”
When there’s no positive Sars2 test.
Do more research on the monoclonal treatments.
I wouldn’t trust them.
Also, watch out for blood clotting even after you get over it.
That’s what almost took me out after I started feeling better.
maybe go on blood thinners if a D-Dimer raises flags.
When I’ve had pneumonia, the only thing that helped with chest congestion was taking the old Sudafed with pseudoephedrine. That, and sleeping on my side rather than on my back. If I slept on my back, both lungs would fill up, but on my side, only one would fill up so I could at least breathe enough to get a few hours of sleep before I had to get up and hack stuff up.
The zinc (50 mg) and quercetin (500-1000 mg) are important. Zinc is a major antiviral, and the quercetin helps it get where it needs to go.
For the congestion, consider a 10mg antihistamine like Zyrtec or Claritin. The Spanish nursing home that was written up in a study used it.
Never, the covidians are convinced every little ache, sniffle and fever is the disease. And the kicker is they are fortunate enough to keep catching it again and again.
Go to urgent care or the hospital if it's below the minimum level your doctor recommends for you.
I’m beginning to think the vaxxed are chronic carriers with flare-ups- similar to what happens to some people with Epstein Barr
Nirmatrelvir + Ritonavir = Paxlovid
If you can’t get the MABs, then you are left with this choice. If this is your doctor’s recommendation, I hope you will not delay. Your symptoms are already significant.
Very good advice.
Whatever they prescribe, if you truly believe it will work, it probably will.
The Mrs. and I had it in November of 2020, and treated it like a bad flu. Rest, fluids, Tylenol for her, aspirin for me. But your temperature seems to have spiked higher than ours; my top was 102, hers was 103. And back to near normal in a couple of days and asymptomatic in a week.
It did affect out appetites, though; we forgot to eat for a couple of days ‘cause we weren’t hungry. So I set a reminder alarm so I’d remember to feed us.
Had the omicron variant. Fever lasted less than a day. Early 50s, overweight. Worst was a lingering cough. If you can clear your lungs and (gross as it is in polite company) expectorate it, it’ll pass in about 2-3 weeks, got to get it out. Loss of smell/taste a day after the fever broke was what made me realize I had the WuFlu. Even with the cough, my throat never got sore. I was more tired than usual. But I was working from home and never took a day off. That’s how mild mine was.
