My understanding was that they were retrieving their phone (from their car?). Fatal decision.
That’s the way I understood it also.
Too bad she wasn’t retrieving a personal weapon from her car. Although that would’ve been illegal and against the law.
Pure speculation on my part, but I’m guessing the shooter saw her at her car, saw her enter the building without closing the door, and followed her in.
Easy Peezy.
“My understanding was that they were retrieving their phone (from their car?). Fatal decision.”
Why did the teacher need his/her phone in the classroom?
Hard to believe the phone was in her car instead of her purse. Lying through her teeth.

xxxxxxxxxxxxx
how many of them were retrieving their phone (from their car)?
or is this them/they/their preferred pronouns?
In my life experience, the most likely culprits to prop open doors that should be closed are smokers (including vapers) who need their nicotine fix.
“Official” so called “designated smoking locations” are often distant and inconvenient. So a teacher (or other employee or govt worker) will prop open a nearby exit door to get their nicotine fix.
Naturally, they will say, “I was going out to my car for this or that reason.”
Vaping has not “fixed” tobacco addiction, in many ways, it’s even worse. Today’s vapes are as small as a deck of cards, and at the push of a button, the addict is getting their vape fix. But they generally will step outside to do it.
Just my opinion.
Why was the door LEFT propped open, if the shooting started one minute after the door was propped open?
Just my guess, but I’ll bet the teacher who propped the door went outside, got their cigarette (or cell phone, wink wink), and when they heard shots, they probably came back in through ANOTHER door, probably the main front entrance, and forgot about the propped-open back exit.
Just my dos centavos.
No, she went INTO the school to get her phone, came BACK to the door, THEN called 911. THEN went back into the school leaving the door she opened, OPEN.
She probably heard the crash and went to investigate. Propping the door open so she wouldn’t get locked out.
Phones kill.
