Gardners beware -- the invasive Amynthas agrestis, also known as the Asian jumping worm, could be wiggling around a garden near you. These worms are known for their insatiable appetite and ability to jump a foot in the air. Yes, you read that right.
"True to their name, they jump and thrash immediately when handled, behaving more like a threatened snake than a worm, sometimes even breaking and shedding their tail when caught," said the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) in a report.
As if that's not disconcerting enough, the worms "are extremely active, aggressive, and have voracious appetites," the CDFA warned in the report.

But how will they do on a fish hook?
More love coming from Asia?
Evil things usually show up in California, including evil worms and evil Indians at Twitter.

But, they eat dirt so the garden gets aerated better.
And their castings improve the soil.
It’s not like they are 3-inch-long murder hornets.
Or, monkey-pox.
Sound like perfect bait for Asian carp.
I bet the worms were bio-engineered in some CCP bio-weapons lab, just in time for the growing season.
I have heard that using a 1:1 mixture of vinegar to water and pouring it on them kills them.
I ran into a few on my property a couple years ago but have not seen them since.
They do move fast!
I have heard their castings are not good for the soil.
I just took a look around the internet to see if jumping worms make good bait. Not a good idea supposedly. Actually many states(probably all) make it illegal to transport invasive species. That said, if those critters will wiggle on your hook for a long time while under water, you got some serious lunker potential.

Pink! Turquoise! Stick together! Some say
UltraMegafauna only clicks together one way
If that is apocryphal, might offer you turns
Up top, where the view's at, you can look stern
While we pose so menacingly, brandishing blade
About to rid us of the enemy with one swoop - Yayyy!
- Not now! Time's critical. Don't debate this again
Oops! That space worm gobbled up Michigan!
We should export some of our moles that would cure the problem 🤪

Kudzu, Asian carp, jumping worms, the Chi Na virus... Everything from China seems to be crap.
Thanks for sharing but unless you specify what's on the menu, you haven't said much. For instance, if they jump a foot in the air and devour mosquitoes, I've just found my best friend.
Everything in nature is not necessarily an existential threat.
