I think it was the heat. It was uncommonly hot today.

I’ve seen people who have suffered cardiac arrest while running a 10K - from only moderate coronary disease. When you are pushing the limits for your age there is a risk. That said, better to push and risk. Most who do wind up better off.

The race started at what? 7:00 a.m.? It was probably around 65 degrees at the start. By the time the race ended it was probably about 80 degrees. These are runners who have been training for this race. I do not think it was the heat that was the cause of the death of the one runner or the hospitalizations of the others. Especially given the numbers of sports participants who have suffered heart attacks or strokes from exertion after being vaxxed. Yes, a few heat exhaustion cases are normal for every race, especially those on the 4th of July, but this is not normal.

I’m over 60 and ran that distance last week with mid 80’s temps.
Have to be careful and stay hydrated .
Just finished a full marathon in Whitefish Montana…didn’t die. No one died as far as I know.

Article had ridiculous wording with the “injuries” mentioned.
The heat index was 95-100°. Probably heat stroke and heat exhaustion resulted.
