Jon Rahm’s errant shot in the first round of the PGA Championship reportedly hit and injured ESPN anchor Sage Steele Thursday. Steele was "covered in blood" after Rahm was heard yelling fore, an eyewitness told The Quadrilateral. The witness told the SubStack Steele was "on the ground, holding her nose, mouth or chin area." Steele has not posted anything on social media about the injury. ESPN was covering the first two rounds of the PGA Championship and will defer main afternoon and evening coverage to CBS on Saturday and Sunday for rounds three and four. Rahm’s errant shot found its way back to the fairway. He saved par on the hole. Rahm finished the first round 3 over par. He registered two birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey. He was 1 over after the first nine. On Friday, Rahm bounced back, finishing 1 under par. He had three birdies and two bogeys during the round. He was at 2 over par through the tournament.

Thanks for that info.
Get well, soon, lady.
Read the back of your ticket, folks.
SportsCenter anchor Sage Steele is suing ESPN for what she claims was illegal retaliation against her for comments she made on Jay Cutler’s podcast last year, according to Joe Flint of the Wall Street Journal
The comments in question came last September. Among other things, Steele called ESPN’s vaccine mandate “sick,” said female reporters dressed a certain way share the blame when athletes make inappropriate comments about them and questioned former President Barack Obama identifying himself as Black “considering his Black dad was nowhere to be found but his white mom and grandma raised him.”
The social media backlash was swift, followed by a professional backlash that Steele is reportedly alleging breached her contract and violated her free speech rights.
Steele claims ESPN forced her to apologize for the comments before temporarily suspending her from the air. The apology, which was released by ESPN in October:
“I know my recent comments created controversy for the company, and I apologize. We are in the midst of an extremely challenging time that impacts all of us, and it’s more critical than ever that we communicate constructively and thoughtfully,” Steele said in a statement.
The lawsuit additionally claims ESPN retaliated against her by taking away prime assignments and failing to stop her colleagues from bullying and harassing her, as well as taking action based on “inaccurate third-party accounts” of her comments before reviewing their context. It also said the network’s handling of the incident was an example of selective enforcement of a network barring news personnel from speaking out on political or social issues.
From the Journal:
ESPN has “violated Connecticut law and Steele’s rights to free speech based upon a faulty understanding of her comments and a nonexistent, unenforced workplace policy that serves as nothing more than pretext,” according to the suit.

I like how it describes her injuries and THEN....”.

“Rahm’s errant shot found its way back to the fairway. He saved par on the hole.“
Well, thank goodness for that. Doesn’t he have to call “off the reporterette’s chin” before the shot?
“”””Hate to see this. Sage has spoken out against obama on a number of occasions, called the vax mandate “sick” and while i don’t know for a fact she’s a Conservative, she’s taken a lot of conservative positions at risk to her job and livelihood”””
Unlike yourself, I could care less what her politics are. The message here should be that being in the crowd is a risk and people need to respect that a hard-hit golf ball can be lethal.
Thanks for the lecture- Presbyterian.
Really....
Who wants to stand down range of a firing line?
The golf tracker estimated that the ball was traveling at approximately 181 MPH!!!

Didn’t know who she was, but after reading that, I like her.
It's the same language you get at a hockey or baseball game. I was at a Bruins game once when a hockey puck shot by Cam Neely ricocheted into the stands and smacked a young woman in the face, causing much blood and distress.
when you are at a sporting event, it is best to pay attention to the game in front of you.
I was driving past a golf course in a convertible and got hit in the shoulder by a golf ball. Given the speed of the car vs the speed of the ball, I would have been real messed up had it hit my head.
I don’t golf so they couldn’t make a case that I knew the risk. I was staying at the hotel for a convention.
Since the injury was not a bruise, I laughed it off.
1- a teenage girl got hit in the head with a puck at the Blue Jackets game years ago, went to the hospital and died because of the injury,.
2- Steele was anchoring the coverage for ESPN. Where she was on the dais reporting or spectating, i don’t know- but i tend to believe she was busy at work when she got hit.
Of course if you’ve ever been to a hockey game or a baseball game and see a puck or baseball streaming at you, there ain’t much time to react.
She also posted a tweet against those protesting at airports in favor of “refugees” when President Trump signed his first EO. That pissed a lot of people off.
Lol. I’ve been to hockey games and no one is paying attention to the game until there is a fight.
I could care less what her politics are

When you care just a bit. ;-)
Can one even see a little white ball at 181 mph?
So, how much do you currently care, a little or a lot?
