Explanation: Real castles aren't this old. And the background galaxy is even older. Looking a bit like an alien castle, the pictured rock spires are called hoodoos and are likely millions of years old. Rare, but found around the world, hoodoos form when dense rocks slow the erosion of softer rock underneath. The pictured hoodoos survive in the French Alps and are named Demoiselles Coiffées -- which translates to English as "Ladies with Hairdos". The background galaxy is part of the central disk of our own Milky Way galaxy and contains stars that are typically billions of years old. The photogenic Cygnus sky region -- rich in dusty dark clouds and red glowing nebulas -- appears just above and behind the hoodoos. The featured image was taken in two stages: the foreground was captured during the evening blue hour, while the background was acquired from the same location later that night.

But up close it's just a red Shitzou.
It reminds me of Mordor.
another pretend picture from NASA. Sorry, but an overlay of a Nebula over our milky way is obvious to who ever has seen legit pictures of it.... but if it gets you hits, have fun!!
Born on the bayou?
Not meant to deceive, it’s more of a “fantasy creation”.
Astro-photographers create pictures like this to show off their creative side.
Your comment seems to imply the person who took this image was trying to hide something. How he did it is clearly explained in the article.
""The featured image was taken in two stages: the foreground was captured during the evening blue hour, while the background was acquired from the same location later that night.""
the red IS NOT our milky way galaxy. these are fake pictures. like I say... pretend pictures.
But that’s not what you stated.
You said, “Sorry, but an overlay of a Nebula over our milky way is obvious to who ever has seen legit pictures of it”.
Once again, the author of this image clearly explained how the image was obtained. He was not attempting to hoodwink anyone.
he sure is hood winking you! that Rad dust nebula with the dark clouds IS NOT from our milky way, center... the side... directly behind. Never has a red dust Nebula like this been even faked in our galaxy.
There are more fake pictures coming out of APOD than BS stories out of our media!! Christ cant we depend on any real information including pictures!! There has to be MILLIONS of real astronomy on record/in files.
The author and article clearly stated how the image was obtained. There is no secrets here and no one was attempting to fool you. Did he manipulate the color? Maybe, but that's not what yous stated at #6.
man, when you add layers on top of each other, THAT is an overlay!! the nebula is “OVERLAYED” on the milky way!! and they so novice about it they could have lessoned the Opacity of the top layer so you can see the stars of the layer below!! youre grasping at straws. stop defending fake pictures!
Looks medieval.
Good grief, read the article. The author of the image explains how he captured the image.
But you still think someone is attempting to con you. Amazing!
Tell me, obtaining the image in two stages as described above, would that not include layers/overlaying or some type of manipulation of the images?
Did you not read the article? Ya still think someone is attempting to fool ya?
youre the bone head getting conned!!
“the foreground was captured during the evening blue hour”
There is NO WAY this “Foreground” watch takin ANYWHERE with a normal camera!! This nebula is NOT in our galaxy!!
Im done with ya!!
It was a lying magic camera meant to deceive you.☺
