The author and article clearly stated how the image was obtained. There is no secrets here and no one was attempting to fool you. Did he manipulate the color? Maybe, but that's not what yous stated at #6.

man, when you add layers on top of each other, THAT is an overlay!! the nebula is “OVERLAYED” on the milky way!! and they so novice about it they could have lessoned the Opacity of the top layer so you can see the stars of the layer below!! youre grasping at straws. stop defending fake pictures!
