POINCIANA, Fla. - A vehicle crash claimed the life of a Kissimmee woman Saturday morning.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Keishly Malave, 30, was traveling north on Country Club Road in Poinciana around 10:30 a.m. As she approached Wedge Lane, deputies say Malave crossed the double yellow lines on the road and began going northbound in the southbound lane to illegally pass a Nissan Altima.
Deputies state she approached the Altima at a high rate of speed and clipped the front left side of the car as she tried to reenter the northbound lane to avoid colliding with oncoming traffic in the southbound lane. Upon impact, deputies say Malave’s vehicle traveled onto the east shoulder sidewalk and struck a concrete pole.
Malave died at the scene. The driver of the Altima was not injured.
The roadway was closed for about four hours following the crash.

Repairs to an Altima are ghastly expensive. Son B had two accidents in his dad’s Altima. Both were low speed: one was a parking lot, one was stop-and-go on the interstate. We got our money’s worth out of the insurance finally.
But,but, I’m ten feet ahead of you
Some mistakes don’t allow a second chance.
For the life of me, I’ll never understand why they let women drive. It’s not like they really need to go anywhere.
I agree. I recently was hit by a guy who was fleeing a traffic stop. He kept on going, and my car’s in the body shop. I’ll be down some money after the deductible and the rental car fees, money I can ill afford to lose because my job’s coming to an end.
Maybe this punk will meet the same fate she did. Hopefully.
Since it was a woman, I am not surprised by the picture. White women don’t usually drive that way.
Those double yellow lines are there for a reason and you can get into a very dangerous situation ignoring them. They mean it isn’t safe to pass even when you see no one coming the other way.
In Virginia, VDOT stripes passing zones that used to be a single dashed line with alternating dashed and solid lines so you CANNOT legally pass 10 cars at once. (The passing zone alternates from side to side, and none are long enough for that kind of pass, although the original passing zone definitely was).
There are also no turnouts in this state (that I’ve ever seen).
And most of the 2-lane roads have no shoulders (trees or a drainage ditch within 2-3 feet of the pavement is common), and many have no passing zones for MILES.
And this state is full of jerks who like to tailgate. You can go be going 15MPH over the speed limit (60 in a 45) and they’re right on your bumper.
I find it equally amazing that people will refuse to pull over even when 5-10 people are bunched up behind them.
“What a shame. She died before she got a neck tattoo.”
But she probably already had the prerequisite “tramp stamp” though.
Was she vaxx?
“Since it was a woman, I am not surprised by the picture. White women don’t usually drive that way.”
Where I live they do, and most are from out of state.
This past Friday had an air force dependapotamus with North Carolina tags on her SUV blow a stop sign to cut me and my 56,000 pounds of truck off while trying to beat me to the traffic light.
RIP
I think the key takeaway is that the driver of the Nissan Altima is uninjured.
That’s a ridiculous argument. I drive in the right hand lane about 7 to 8 miles over the posted speed limit while keeping up with the flow of traffic. (I assume we can all agree that on highways, no one goes the actual speed limit). I only pull into the left-hand lane to pass slower traffic, but then as soon as it is safe, return to the right-hand lane. It is the person passing on the curve, against the double line, weaving in and out of traffic, and then suddenly having to apply their brakes, that cause the problems and the accidents.
Most of those from Russia.
I also see drivers fail to maintain both lanes up to a construction merge, and drivers who get in the open lane miles early actually swerve to block drivers correctly using both lanes up to the merge.
Yes, there are those weaving in and out of traffic but those are far fewer than those who drive as identified above.
Whatever is your problem? The McDonald’s story is plausible, and even likely, and is only “racist” because you chose it to be so.
Had an attack of the runs? Maybe she rushing to go to the toilet? Or on drugs? Or a careless woman heading to a fate she would eventually get to one way or another....
Still a shame. Good thing she didn’t take anyone else out.
Over the course of several miles, a speeding driver might save what - 30 seconds? But to them it is a competition. And they put our lives at risk along with their own.
