POINCIANA, Fla. - A vehicle crash claimed the life of a Kissimmee woman Saturday morning.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Keishly Malave, 30, was traveling north on Country Club Road in Poinciana around 10:30 a.m. As she approached Wedge Lane, deputies say Malave crossed the double yellow lines on the road and began going northbound in the southbound lane to illegally pass a Nissan Altima.

Deputies state she approached the Altima at a high rate of speed and clipped the front left side of the car as she tried to reenter the northbound lane to avoid colliding with oncoming traffic in the southbound lane. Upon impact, deputies say Malave’s vehicle traveled onto the east shoulder sidewalk and struck a concrete pole.

Malave died at the scene. The driver of the Altima was not injured.

The roadway was closed for about four hours following the crash.

From your link. She was too young to die but it also seems she may have had a bit of an anger issue. Perhaps she was angry the car wasn't going fast enough for her liking.

Making room for idiots is good thing despite their recklessness. And especially when the oncoming traffic could also pay the price.

Due to hurricanes more and more utility poles are made of concrete rather than wood or metal.

I hope she died in a state of grace and I’ll say some prayers for her. I sure hope the people she was passing were trying to let her back in instead of trying to kill people just because it was a stupid move. I’ll say some prayers for all involved.

See it all time.
Especially out in East Texas where it’s all country, no break down lanes, but city folks moving here. They are impatient, rude many times. Tractors have the right away. 18 wheelers are slower going up hills.

I looked up the location , concrete light poles.

Locally the concrete poles are replaced with Fiberglass being the norm around here for streetlights, the utility poles which may also support a streetlight , are primarily wood.

It’s a cross being seeing those Fast-n-Furious movies and thinking they’re amazing drivers that can do the impossible and the loser complex letting them think they are “winning” by getting in front of someone.

The topper for me was when we were driving on a straight two lane Road outside of Houston and a guy coming the other way swung out across a double yellow line and all the way over to the improved shoulder on my side of the road to pass his guy and us. Was not sure how that would end.

I have had to put on the brakes numerous times for people passing, thinking they could pass 2 or 3 cars, then they have a rough time getting back into their lane and they’re heading straight for me. Some people are absolute maniacs on the road.

When I was stationed in England in the 1970s people would pull out to pass even if a car was coming. They took it on absolute faith that the car being overtaken would move over to the edge of the road, the oncoming car would move over to the edge of the road, and the vehicles would pass 3 abreast. Yes, some people are absolute maniacs on the road.

And I witnessed what appeared to be road rage yesterday. A pickup truck was passing another pickup truck and I was driving the oncoming vehicle. It looked like the passing truck deliberately sideswiped the other truck. Being a witness, I was going to stop but neither truck stopped, so I went on as well.

I’ve had drivers dangerously pass me on curves and hills, etc. When I arrive at the red-light ahead, there they are, ten feet in front of me, waiting at the same red-light they would have been at if they had just stayed behind me. Why do people think they HAVE to be the lead car?

You're making their case; they wouldn't have been at the red light if they didn't have to fight to pass people who refuse to stay out of the passing lane, leave enough space between them and the car in front of them for those who wish to pass, or use the turnouts on single lane roads.

It's not just the one driver, it's also the other road zombies who refuse to drive properly. I've had to pass more than ten cars at once because the lead driver refused to use turnouts and drivers two through ten were too ignorant to leave room between them despite refusing to pass the car in front of them. The worst are the ignorant drivers who would speed up to block someone from legally passing them.

People don't have to be the lead driver if the lead driver drives well. If they don't, you can't be at the mercy of someone who's driving with their head up their ass, in their phone, or window shopping while driving.

Apparently the farther one gets away from urban areas, the better the drivers.

People who rely on someone else to slow down or move over eventually run into someone who doesn’t because they are distracted or some other reason.

That situation is on the drivers who refuse to leave enough space for someone to pass them. If drivers aren't willing to pass the car in front of them, they need to leave enough space for those who are willing to.
