I’ve watched it a time or two, the original. It is NOT funny. It has a darkness in it, a sinister overtone.
At a cursory level, “Modern Family” could be considered an alternative universe spinoff of “Married With Children”. Al gets divorced from Peggy, somehow becomes wealthy in a pedestrian sales job and marries a trophy wife. Rebellious daughter settles down and starts a family, academically gifted but socially awful son turns out to be gay.
Given how much broadcast television wouldn’t accept in the original series now, I think Modern Family pushes the boundaries enough to make that view satisfying.
I don’t know how an updated take on the original series works for a woke-minded TV network without making Al the constant focus for either hatred or humiliation for the entire series (and Ed O’Neil likely has too much money for that degradation). I know if they ignore the woke folk, it would make money, there’s a craving for content that rejects the modern sensibilities. At least there are still people trying, whatever that means.
Dead to Me is a man hating misandrist show.

Not a choice that is going to make me an eager viewer. Family Guy has become nothing but a leftist mouthpiece, IMO.
There is a great scene in that episode where Sam went off script and pinched Peggy’s ass. Classic.
The first day I took my daughter to a Catholic kindergarten, the principal told us parents to be careful what we let our kids watch on TV. Shows like Married with Children are just awful, she said. At that time, my daughter and I watched Married together at least an hour each night. I looked at my daughter and we both giggled just like Al and Kelly. Yea, right.
What? No Ted Bundy? I hated this pathetic portrayal of a dysfunctional family then and I will hate it now. The attempt to revive a seriously flawed comedy about a ridiculously degenerate family will be a shortlived waste of time and money.
Kelly Bundy was hotter than Rachel (AKA Jennifer Aniston) ever dreamed of being.

Liked the show, Cartoon version? Nope. Cartoons are for kids. Re-runs will do.
Imagination to create new things is dead so they go back to the past.
If this show is like the real one, it won’t last without wokey crap because someone will be offended.

I have a friend who is Al Bundy personified. He even looks a lot like him.
But like many TV shows, it went past its sell-by date. The last few seasons became repetitive, mostly T&A fests, and not particularly funny.
