Both my sons, born in 1966 and 1971 were put on whole milk with Karo syrup by my pediatrician within 2-3 weeks of birth. The oldest weighed 7 lbs. 15 ounces; the youngest 9 lbs. 5 ounces. I tried to breast feed the youngest, and also added formula, but neither filled him up. The pediatrician also had me start them both on rice cereal, and soon after, added fruit.

Yes...I was 2 lb 11 oz back then when I was born...my mom said the doctor could fit me in the palm of his hand. I guess being that small was a lot more dicey in those days.
