Ticks carry a whole host of nasty diseases and since it is now tick season, I thought this would be a good resource. Mr. mm and I have already been finding ticks on us here in tick heaven NH.

My son will wash his camping clothing in permethrin prior to an outing. He states it works quite well for mosquitos too!

Permethrin shouldn’t be sprayed on your skin. Spray it on your boots, pants, socks, shirt while you’re not wearing them. Let them dry and then you can wear them. You can buy permethrin treated clothing.

These people sell pre-treated clothing or you can send them your clothes and they’ll do the treatment on them. https://www.insectshield.com/pages/insect-shield-your-clothes

Their treatment process lasts longer than the DIY technique that you do at home.

That Sawyer stuff gets pretty good reviews. Thinking of getting some for this summer.

First summer in our house in Arkansas, and I’m trying to figure out if we need to spray our yard.

Still some cautions to keep in mind re: its toxicity.

I have three fat sassy possums that visit every night. Always leave them a treat. They eat thousands of ticks, and don’t carry rabies.

Only positive thing about fire ants is that they get rid of ticks / dear ticks! Lost a few pets to ticks in the Tx hill country. Always keep one fire ant mound around.

Back in the day I did a lot of backcountry camping in the mountains and I used Avon Skin-So-Soft diluted about 30% with water. Tics, skeeters, gnats, biting flys etc wont touch it. It lasts a long time per application, and it smells good.

My 11 month old puppy had a Lone Star tick on his ear. We’ve never had any problems with ticks in our yard, so we were only giving them flea medicine. So I rushed to the vet and got her and the others some Nextguard. $22 each pill, lasts 1 month. Mr. FlamingConservative is going to have the yard treated. 3 dogs, $66 a month for the next several months. Grrrr. Funny how those meds never go generic, ain’t it?

Why is there an advertisement on FreeRepublic? There’s nothing CRAZY about this experiment, other than its ameteurishness. What next? Are you going to show us the blind taste test between Pepsi vs Cocacola?

Thank God I have all white pets. Extremely easy to spot ticks and other unwanted pests!

Where I live I can get ten ticks on me just walking out on the porch for a few minutes. Never worried about it. Twenty plus years and tens of thousands of bites later, never had a sick day. Same for the four dogs I’ve had during this time. We’ve all tested positive for Lyme, but none of us were ever sick from it. To me this is like the current use of antiseptic cleaning products vs. let kids eat dirt. You have an immune system for a reason. God made it. It works. It needs to be challenged to work at it’s best.
