Ticks are found in grass, in lawns, on any grass any where because they drop off of deer, rabbits, mice, cats....whatever crosses that grassy area.
One does not need to go into the woods to get ticks.

Don’t go into to the woods............... That’s no guarantee either. They have been found in people’s suburban lawns.
Besides, it’s not just woods. Fields can be just as bad and when you live rural, it’s basically unavoidable.
