A Russian Navy ship is 'limping back to port' after catching fire following a strike by Ukraine, according to reports.
Ukrainian forces have damaged a modern Russian navy logistics ship in the Black Sea, setting it on fire, a spokesman for the Odesa regional military administration in southern Ukraine said on Thursday.
Spokesman Serhiy Bratchuk said in an online post that the Vsevolod Bobrov had been struck near Snake Island, the scene of renewed fighting in recent days.
"Thanks to the actions of our sailors, the Vsevolod Bobrov logistics vessel, one of the latest in the Russian fleet, caught fire.

“Vsevolod Bobrov” means “sitting duck” in Russian.
This may be one of the most successful naval expeditions in Russian history.
Reports this was hit by a Neptune missile near Snake Island

“Vsevolod Bobrov” is a brand new Russian ship. It came to the Black Sea from the Baltic on 07/01/2022.
Snake Island became some sort of Bermuda Triangle for the Russian army. Russians already loosed and proceed to lose a huge amount of warships, equipment, and people there.
Sorry. But the era of the naval surface combatants and armored fighting vehicles in this technologically advanced time is over. The silicon chip and other advances has changed everything.

Some days the jokes just write themselves!
Boy Howdy! Without those nukes, it is starting to look like the vaunted feared Russian army just might be a true paper tiger.
Interesting thing, at least to me is this is the third time since 1905 either Russia or the Soviet Union has underestimated a smaller nation and it cost them dearly each time. Japan in 1905. Finland in 1940 and now Ukraine.
Maybe the Russian army doesn’t really mean business until the Hun is at the gates of Moscow.
Why don’t we add to our national debt by sending more arms to Ukraine? We are a super-power. We must flex out muscles in all foreign wars. Who cares if our treasury is bankrupt with debt bigger than GDP. Let the next generations deal with the debt. I want to feel macho all the time.

No, things have changed and the Russians are insisting on deploying a military from the 1980’s.
Their navy is a nice collection of floating targets and you know the real shame here? That the Russian oligarchs have a fleet of superyachts that are far better equipped than anything in the Russian navy. Better engines, some with stealth capabilities, and some which would make decent destroyers after some time in the yard.
The Russians know how to build good ships. They just don’t want to build them for Russia is the problem.
“I want to feel macho all the time.”
Then you should go join the men of the Soviet Red Army and fight for the Glory of the Rodina and Comrade Chekist Pidor Putin! That’ll make you feel macho! (Not to mention a little gay)
Or the French. BTW, it wouldn’t surprise me if Biden invaded Russia on June 22, 2022
and still no word on 799...
I never thought I’d live to see the day that the Russian military would act as rifle range silhouettes for a bunch of Ukrainian gangbangers.
Fun fact: Vsevolod Bobrov was the coach of the USSR national hockey team (Red Army) in the 1970s.
This was a Project 23120 logisitics ship, and had no defensive systems.
Also, this ship had no defensive systems.
“The Russians know how to build good ships.”
I don’t think any of the yachts were built in Russia. Netherlands built a lot. One was even made in Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin.
Pardon, the Russians know how to build good ships and they’re smart enough not to have any ignorant Russian peasants building them.
I stand corrected. (-:
