oops...RICH STRIKE....my bad...
I don’t follow racing, only see the 3 triple crown races. But, isn’t it a major goal for horses to go for the triple crown? Or is that media hype?
its a very rare to get this chance...and to just skip it is more rare...
Awww, man - The way he worked through the pack at the end I was hoping this year we could see one that would go the distance in all three.
Still, I do think that the rules should go back to the way they were instead of letting spoilers in for the longer run.
Baltimore is too dangerous.
LOL!!! NY sh!tty, where the Belmont is, is not much better
I think because we went so long without one it lost its luster. It’s a real challenge for the horse, 3 races in quick succession that get longer and tougher, Do you want to wear out your horse going for that, or hold them back and possibly extend their career. Sure IF the win the Crown their breeding price will go through the roof. But you’re probably not going to win.
sre enough...the media has been digging into the connections for the horse...the trainer is a proud “REAGAN REPUBLICAN”...guess he posted a nasty tweet about Kamala last year..something about her best work is done on her knees...they are demanding he apoligize..
Well, he looks like he’s a stone cold closer, and the Preakness is a half-furlong shorter than the Derby, with only two weeks to prepare - I imagine the connexions think their chances are far better in the Belmont.
Belmont is in Elmont (Nassau County) not far from where I grew up. It is not in NYC (though near the border).
One year in the 1980’s a horse skipped the Preakness to run in the New Jersey Derby instead. Then they offered a bonus to any horse winning the triple crown. I assume the bonus is still in effect.
If two weeks isn’t long enough to prepare, and if the racing business and TV execs. would like to see a triple crown run, maybe they should re-schedule these races.
Just thinking that the ratings on TV will be lower for the next 2 races, since we know there won’t be a triple crown attempt this year.
That horse is worth so much more as a stud right here, right now without entering even one more race.
Anybody that watched that overhead drone footage of the race can see the amazing ability of that animal. The desire to win matched with his incredible ground eating stride leaves no doubt to the imagination that this horse is ONE OF A KIND.
If I owned that horse I would keep him at home, guard him with my life and start booking the stud fee schedule and forget the Preakness and the Belmont.
Yeah, there’s no reason we need to have these three races in the span of five weeks - 10, 9 1/2 and 12 furlongs.
Yes -— I was surprised. I wonder why.
Well that bites!
Rich Strike was back in the pack in Kentucky until the end. That is a relatively long race at a 1/4 miles, and his trainer I believe already said that he does best in longer runs. The Preakness is a little shorter at 1 3/16ths and then Belmont is really long at 1 1/2 miles. So it may also make sense to skip the shorter race in the middle that they think he’s unlikely to win and focus on the longer third run, where they probably expect him to cruise again.
F the media
The jockey won that race. He contained and directed the energy. Watch the video. The jockey found the gaps and when the field was open gave the GO...GO...GO signal and the amazing horse did the rest.
It was a team effort.
