Mickey was 86 years old when he died, according to KHOU.
His death comes days after he canceled several tour dates, citing health issues and low energy levels as the cause.
On his personal Facebook, the singer said of the cancelation: "I am so sorry to have cancelled the May dates at the theatre in Branson. The last couple of weeks, my energy level and some health issues kept me from being 100% at my shows.
"So, I've been seeking doctors to get me back on track. I certainly don't like to cancel at the last minute, but unfortunately I had to make the late decision this weekend. I've cancelled all Branson shows through May to give anyone planning on seeing our shows the information so your plans could be adjusted accordingly."

One of my absolute favorites. RIP. Terrific singer and musician. God said, ‘Bring on on home to me.”
I had read about this in the news about 30 minutes ago. I’m posting from a motel room in Branson right this moment...I was taking in a show when he passed.
Bummer. He did a few tv shows. Love American Style I believe-small stuff. Barrel chested.
You were always fun, Mickey, and very talented! Thank you!
I still watch Urban Cowboy when it’s on.
He did the remake of “Stand by Me” in Travolta’s Urban Cowboy. It was huge. His first hit was six months after “Love American Style’ went off the air. Or are you just trolling?
Had some good times at Gilley’s club in Stinkadena back in the day. Things changed a lot when the movie “Urban Cowboy” came out but not for the better.
LOL, when everybody traded in their disco suits for cowboy boots.
Low energy/health issues...with concerts planned. Hate that :-(
RIP, Texas Troubadour.
Stinkadena ...
LOL...hadn’t heard that, in a while.
Off to the big honky tonk in the sky. Farewell.
Mickey Gilley, Jerry Lee Lewis & Jimmy Swaggart were first cousins, if memory serves.
Three pretty fair country entertainers. Of course, Jimmy took himself a little more serious than Mickey & Jerry Lee.
Jerry Lee and Swaggart made some pretty salacious headlines back in the day. Mickey not so much
My favorite Gilly song. RIP Mickey. You done good! You’ll be missed.
He worked until the very end. Must have loved it.
Same as with Willie Nelson (89)
Same as with Phillip Glass (Minimalist Classical) (85)
Same as with Jerry Lee Lewis (86)
Same as with Frankie Valli (87)
